Horizon Sports and Experiences (HS&E) includes the merger of Horizon Media's Scout Sports and Entertainment division and was created to provide a differentiated and comprehensive approach for clients engaging in sports and experiential marketing. With a fully-integrated service model, HS&E includes a core focus on IP creation and monetization, strategic advisory and consulting, media rights, sponsorship, sales, and experiential strategy and activation - transforming marketers' ability to more seamlessly and effectively leverage their brand assets, content, and engagement strategies to drive increased growth. In addition, given the transformative impact that Web3 and the metaverse are expected to have in both the sports and experiences arenas, Horizon Media's recently launched metaverse consultancy, Chapter & Verse, also resides under the expanded offerings of HS&E.
The Job:
The role of the Art Director within HS&E is to ideate, concept and execute concepts that can be developed into multi-format creative deliverables across multiple brands and campaigns.
First and foremost, this person will collaborate with the Creative Director and greater creative team to concept and innovate ideas on behalf of our clients, and the agency. This person will also contribute to brainstorms, design projects, and video/photoshoots. Equally critical to this role is the ability to design mockups and composites that bring ideas to life, in addition to the general hard skills necessary to do design work on behalf of current clients.
To ensure that ideas are fully developed, and visual aesthetics are of the highest quality, the Art Director will work in tandem with the Creative Director, and Senior Creative Strategist. This person may also have mentor responsibilities over Designers to oversee their design executions and professional growth.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
50% - Design, Art Direction & Execution
40% - Strategic Thinking & Concept Ideating
10% - Client Relations
Facilitate and contribute to productive brainstorms with Creative Director, Sr. Creative Strategist and team (Design, Production, Experiential) to develop strategic concepts across video, photo, social, design and experiential formats
Designs brand assets, within brand guidelines and with an experienced creative lens for what works and what doesn't, for client's app experiences, social, .com and other properties. Establishes visual tone, character, and messages that will effectively communicate with the target audience and fulfill the project objectives
Supports concepts and layouts with clear rationale and maintains ownership of work from ideation to launch
Collaborates with the team to construct innovative ideas for clients, and brings them to life in a way that helps clients to envision them in actuality
Presents new ideas, and ongoing design work to clients in a confident, concise and thorough manner
Proactively seizes opportunity to create timely content against viral trends, and larger cultural moments
Collaborates with various members of the team to deliver a range of superior creative executions
Responsible for the design execution for multiple brands across an array of social platforms, web and IRL
Develop unique and interesting executions within the social media landscape, overarching digital space, and IRL
Communicate to the client our creative perspective and processes
Participate in client presentations with respective teams
Manage multiple projects while inspiring & motivating both your creative teammates and clients
Is open to learning new processes and tools to help assist ideation and content creation
Develops presentation materials for business development projects in collaboration with Senior Creative Strategist as needed
Responsible for providing guidance to the following, when/if hired: Junior Designers
Keeps creative and adjacent teams, up to date with new processes, tools and innovative executions
Knowledge and Skills Required
4+ years' experience in experiential and art direction in an agency environment
High design aesthetics, innate interest in spatial, typography, motion, and design
Must have a solid understanding and desire to keep up to date with innovation, industry, and design trends
Strong verbal and written communication skills to convey ideas and direction
A wide understanding of design and art direction as it pertains to social strategy and execution
Confidence in presenting to colleagues and clients
Knowledgeable across all social platforms while expanding skills to fit an ever-changing landscape
Proficient in the Adobe suite focusing on Photoshop, Illustrator and After Effects
Experienced in leading and participating in photoshoots, using DSLRs and post-production techniques
Experience in strategic idea generation, and execution of those ideas on behalf of clients
Certificates, Licenses and Registrations
Physical Activity and Work Environment
Position may involve light physical activity pertaining to photo and video production. This includes lifting tripods, gear, props or assistant producing.
Travel required when necessary to supervise events

Salary Range
$64,350.00 - $90,000.00
A successful applicant's actual base salary may vary based on factors such as individual's skill sets, experience, training, education, licensure/certifications, and qualifications for the role.
