Provide design leadership and inspiration as a member of a design team.

We're looking for an experienced Art Director with a bold, visual portfolio who loves music, design, art and technology with an eye for quality, craft and delivering killer brand moments. What You'll Do

  • Partner with Design & Creative Directors to conceptualize, design, build, and extend brand experiences in 2D and 3D.

  • Lead the creative design of small to large scale project initiatives, working with internal teams and external agencies.

  • Strong understanding of design production and localization across many medias to ensure quality and final delivery.

  • Provide design-mentorship to junior/senior designer staff by exposing them to new challenges, decisions, and workflow.

  • Develop preliminary concepts into refined, comprehensive design solutions including mock-ups of flat, interactive or 3D illustrations or models.

  • Support producers to deliver projects from a design process perspective exhibiting strong time management skills against assignment.

  • Manage time and understand operational practices.

Skills You'll Need

  • Bachelor's Degree in Graphic Design, related field, or 8 years of relevant work experience.

  • Excellent creative and strategic abilities in 2-3 specialized design fields.

  • Ability to be directed and inspired by creative leaders.

  • Ability to work well leading a team and mentoring junior designers.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to lead working sessions and present to groups of any size.

  • An understanding on a broad range of consumer, brand and cultural relevant topics.

  • Proficiency in design software including Adobe Creative Suite.

  • Must excel at type and layout graphic design. Knows how to execute and talk about proper typography.

  • Must excel at art direction for Lifestyle and Studio photography.

  • Experience with motion graphics a plus.

  • Experience with art directing films a plus.

  • Experience with Social Media creative a plus.

  • Experience with Retail and Environmental experiences a plus.

Working in partnership with the Arts & Lectures Executive Director, the Senior Director of Development position is a critical leadership role and represents the Arts & Lectures brand and programming to high-net wealth individuals in a community with a long tradition of philanthropy in the arts. This position is responsible for meeting fundraising goals of $3.5-5m annually and identifying, cultivating and stewarding donors through meaningful arts experiences. The Senior Director of Development manages a successful development team including Two Directors of Development (major gifts & annual fund), Stewardship/VIP Concierge, and Development Analyst. The Senior Director of Development is a key member of the A&L senior management team and the University's Central Development team. The University's Development resources include access to data management and research tools, collaboration with top fundraising professionals, and ongoing training and professional development opportunities. The Arts & Lectures program is a fun, fast-paced organization with a reputation for excellence in the arts. Because the great majority of Arts & Lectures' contributors attend A&L's many public performances and lectures, the A&L Development team has extraordinary opportunities for frequent meaningful contact with contributors at public events and the many social activities affiliated with those performances and lectures. Minimum Requirements Eight to 10 plus years of significant demonstrated success in nonprofit fundraising in an organization that has a reputation for strategic thinking, organizational excellence and demonstrated action. Three to five years of development management experience, preferably as a Chief Development Officer, Vice President of Development or Director of Development at another organization. Minimum of Five to 10 plus years of experience in major donor cultivation and solicitation. Proven track record of building donor relationships and closing gifts in the six and seven-figure range, as well as the ability to solicit and close major gifts. Proven track record of consistent sustainable revenue growth from major donor campaigns, corporate donations and foundations. Commitment to and ability to articulate the case for higher education, UCSB and the arts. Organized and flexible, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Proven abilities in working with a diverse Council or Board ? particularly in strategic planning, fundraising, council development, council committees, etc. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; a persuasive and passionate communicator with excellent interpersonal and multidisciplinary project skills. Ability to prioritize, follow through and complete tasks. Ability to persuade and motivate others, and to gain the respect and attention of the Council leadership and influential volunteers. Experience in working with a large number of active volunteers is a plus. Ability to work flexible hours including frequent evenings and/or weekends. Comfortable working with individuals from diverse backgrounds and cultures. Proven expertise in the profession of not-for-profit development, preferable university and/or arts-based development.
