POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Art Coordinator is responsible for the planning, implementation, and facilitation of all art programming within their assigned Branch, as well as art outreach. Under the direction of the Branch Director, the Art Coordinator works closely with the Youth Development Supervisor to provide a high-quality, comprehensive, safe, outcome-driven art experience for Club members. Utilizes the organization's mission, vision, and values to set members up for success, and to provide leadership and guidance to members as it relates to art education. Responsibilities include but are not limited to art program development, delivery and assessment, program area safety and cleanliness, art program budgetary management, building and maintaining community art relationships, volunteer supervision, and providing guidance to part-time staff as it pertains to program quality and safety.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Essential functions and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Program Development & Implementation:
Develops, organizes, and implements all art education programs and activities utilizing a formal curriculum.
Designs outcome measurements for art programming.
Continually reviews effectiveness of art programming.
In conjunction with Youth Development Supervisor, oversees all part-time staff in the art department.
Creates a dynamic, positive work environment for part-time staff. Maintains close daily contact with indirect reports. Provides coaching, training opportunities, redirection, and encouragement; helps develop skill set necessary for internal promotion.
Purchases supplies within the determined budget. All purchases must be approved by Branch Director.
Creates a dynamic, diverse, and robust art program curriculum that covers various art mediums.
Develops opportunities for members to showcase artwork.
Fosters and maintains relationships with community art partners.
Ensures the Branch is represented in the National Fine Arts Exhibit (NFAE) competitions.
Directly runs art program area.
Health & Safety:
Ensures program areas remain safe, clean, and organized.
Implements and ensures adherence to Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Scottsdale's policies and procedures.
Demonstrates sound judgement and decision-making. Acts quickly in emergency situations.
Maintains Club equipment and property to ensure they stay in good working order.
Uses positive guidance and discipline techniques to redirect member behavior issues.
Utilizes active supervision techniques when working with Club members.
Additional Responsibilities:
Supports and mirrors the culture, mission, values, and core beliefs of Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Scottsdale.
Promotes an inclusive, welcoming, and respectful environment that embraces diversity.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
Required:
High school graduate or G.E.D. equivalent.
Minimum 2 years' work experience in youth development or related field.
General understanding of alcohol/drug abuse prevention and volunteer service field.
Ability to multitask and adapt to Club's changing needs.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent interpersonal and cooperative working skills.
Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Suite and be comfortable adapting to new technology.
Ability to earn and maintain CPR and First Aide certifications.
Maintains a valid driver's license and meets eligibility requirements to drive Club vehicles.
Flawless ethics and integrity.
Safety oriented mindset.
Recommended:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
Direct youth programming experience.
Experience working in a non-profit setting.
