Responsibilities:

  • Perform comprehensive physical examinations of patients
  • Developand implementpatient management policies and procedures
  • Facilitatereferrals to other healthcare professionals and medical facilities
  • Communicate with collaborating physician orspecialist regarding patientcare

  • Previous experience in nursing or other medical fields

Learn more about this agency Responsibilities * The Physician Assistant (PA) assigned to the Veterans Administration Community Care (VACC) is responsible for coordinating the care of Veterans hospitalized at non-VA facilities, assist members of the VACC staff in planning referrals and coordinating discharge planning. * PA's collaborate and communicated with VA providers and interdisciplinary staff members t maximize healthcare responses, quality and cost effective The PA primary responsibility is to provide timely disposition of inpatient transfers from community care hospitals to West Palm Beach Medical Center (WPBMC) by facilitating and coordinating services between WPBMC providers and providers to include social services, case managers and discharge planers of the community hospitals. * The PA has additional administrative responsibilities regarding implementation and application of VACC policies and procedures, including communicating VACC processes to VA and non-VA facilities and providers. * In accordance with VACC Standard Operating Procedures when VACC receives notification of a Veterans hospitalized in a community facility the PA will provide an evaluation of the Veteran's clinical information - diagnosis, condition and treatment to assure appropriate medical necessity, appropriate utilization of community health care services and timely utilization of the same. * The VACC PA will also serves as clinical expert for VACC staff regarding consults, claims and appeal processes, as well as providing clinical leadership and expertise for the coordination of WPBMC VACC program, support of VACC federal regulations, VHA guidelines, medial review criteria, utilization management processes, clinical documentation requirements, current standards of care, and compliance guidelines. Preferred Experience: Perform routine outpatient procedures and surgeries including: regional anesthesia, tendon repair, incision and drainage, and wound closure and management.
