ARMHS Mental Health Registered Nurses are a pivotal component to promoting optimal health to recipients with mental illness. The ARMHS Mental Health Registered Nurse provides community-based rehabilitative services to adult clients (ages 18+) with mental illness by providing medication education collaboratively, which would include: designing and implementing treatment/intervention reflective of patient needs, educating patient on strategies to stay medication compliant and the importance of doing so, instructing recipients, families and/or significant others in the correct procedures for maintaining a recipient's prescription medication regimen, along with understanding their co morbid conditions.
The position is completely hands off and focuses on the education and medication compliance. The hours are typically weekdays (Monday
Friday). Nurses do not work weekends, nights or holidays. Typical hours are 8:00am
4:00pm with some flexibility depending on the needs of the client and the provider.
Provide med education to clients and their families
Provide information about dosage of various medications and plan to take them as indicated
Help clients understand the importance of taking their medication consistently and explain the reasons for taking their medications
Explain the positive effects of medications in illness management, and help reduce stigma associated with being on medications
Teach methods to achieve daily compliance with medications
Provide coordination with the treatment team and family members
Maintains legible and organized patient electronic health records in accordance with policy of FSSI and requirements of the State of Minnesota. Concurrent documentation is mandatory.

Unrestricted nursing (R.N.) license (State of Minnesota)
2 years minimum knowledge about mental health care preferred
Knowledge about psychotropic medications and other medications to educate clients with co morbid conditions
Valid driver's license
Must pass DHS background study
Must be proficient in the use of computers, specifically Microsoft Word, Excel, the use of email
Preferred experience with electronic health records
