This is a full-time staff position and includes IAC's medical, dental, vision, and 401(k) options.

The Armed Security/Assistant Fire Safety Director position is of key importance to the success of IAC as this is the first impression guests, clients, and potential clients have of the company. This position will assist with the implementation of IAC's armed security and fire safety action policies, procedures and directives at our companies NYC headquarters. The Coordinator will carry out directives of the Manager to ensure that security and fire safety staff are trained and adhere to the policies and procedures outlined in the Protection and Fire Safety Manuals as well as the job responsibilities detailed below.

RESPONSIBILITIES

In keeping with the professional atmosphere of the office, the Armed Security & Fire Safety Coordinator is responsible for the security and continuity of all guest services. Other responsibilities include:

  • Responsible for providing a safe and secure environment in a professional manner. Ability to handle public interaction with disorderly or disruptive people.

  • Assist in close protection, risk management, and security operational planning.

  • Be a liaison between Management, building staff and first responders in the event of an emergency.

  • Assist with conducting drills, training, and oversight of fire and life safety plan in accordance with NYC Fire Code.

  • Operate Fire Safety Command Station to make announcements and acknowledge alarms.

  • Maintaining accurate fire and life safety log books in accordance with NYC Fire Code.

  • Perform concierge duties including, guest registry, report writing, building access, and video surveillance.

  • Display exceptional customer service and communication skills.

  • Greet and assist all messengers & delivery services.

  • Maintain safe and clean reception area.

  • Complying with all procedures, rules, and regulations set forth by Department head.

  • Assist security staff on alternate shifts, weekends and 3rd party special events if needed.

  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to handle multiple tasks.

  • Assist in threat assessments, risk analysis, site surveys, and crisis management.

  • Provide executive protection and logistics support to company executives while on-site, and during special events, if needed.

  • Responds to incidents, ensuring appropriate action is taken by staff, appropriate parties were notified, and After Action Reports are completed.

  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups, managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

  • Coordinate with Security Manager to establish goals, objectives, and then ensure these are properly communicated to staff.

  • While primarily assigned to respond to the above responsibilities, it is expected that, should the need arise, the Security and Fire Safety Coordinator will respond to armed threats and any real or perceived threats of violence.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be available to work a regular schedule, which may include daytime and/or nighttime shifts, plus overtime on an as-needed basis.

  • Associates Degree and three (3) or more years of related experience in Law Enforcement, Executive Protection, Military or Security preferred.

  • Previous office or similar experience preferred.

  • FDNY Certified FSD/EAP or is willing to acquire the proper certifications within 6-12 months of employment.

  • Must have and maintain an active New York City-approved license to carry a concealed weapon.

  • Must possess a valid NYS Armed Guard Security License.

  • Must possess 8 and 16-hour security training certificates.

  • Must be willing to acquire an FDNY indoor place of assembly safety personnel certificate (Fire Guard License F-04 or F03) and First Aid/CPR certification.

  • Professional demeanor with excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • A pleasant and professional phone manner and positive attitude.

  • Excellent organizational, leadership, and time management skills.

  • Proficient with MS Office software and various office equipment.

  • Computer literacy in MS Office, Word and Email is a must.

  • Ability to effectively multitask and prioritize.

  • Extremely flexible and reliable, energetic, and a quick learner.

  • Ability to function in a stressful environment & respond in a calm, professional manner.

  • Must be able to work independently as well as in a team environment.

  • Must maintain continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities and continuing needs.

  • Ability to work from 3:00pm- 11:00pm.

  • As a condition of continued employment, the employee must maintain the current active status of all required License and must carry the license at all times while on duty.

  • Applicant must pass the pre-screening process including a background investigation.

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL & MENTAL FUNCTIONS

  • Read, understand and clearly speak English; constantly use speech and hearing (correctable to normal level required) in communicating with public/co-workers, giving and receiving instructions, using phones.

  • Stand or walk constantly during 3rd party event when needed.

  • Occasionally bend/twist at waist/knees/neck to perform various duties.

  • Constant use of both hands and arms in reaching/handling/grasping/fingering while using the phone, notepad, writing reports, and other administrative tasks.

  • Constant use of eyes (correctable vision to normal level required) to observe, read, interact with public and co-workers, view security monitors; includes hand/eye coordination.

  • Work in various environments including adverse outdoor conditions such as cold, rain or heat;

  • Constant mental alertness and attention to detail required while setting priorities and following up on assignments.

  • Must possess excellent customer service and communication skills.

  • Must be willing to follow the chain of command and established security procedures.

  • Must be able to frequently prepare written reports on the computer.

  • Must be able to handle the pressure of working with a high volume general public (rending from constant to occasional, depending on assignment).
