Orange Regional Medical Center (ORMC), is a 501(c)(3), non-profit organization. Formed by the merger of Arden Hill Hospital and Horton Medical Center, Orange Regional is licensed for 383 beds and employs over 2,500 healthcare professionals including over 600 doctors. Orange Regional Medical Center has consolidated two existing campuses onto a single site in Middletown, New York. This completed facility is the first new freestanding hospital built in the State of New York since 1989 and is the largest medical center between the Tappan Zee Bridge and Albany.
The Armed Security Officer will perform all necessary functions to ensure the daily safety of the ORMC hospital community which includes all ORMC facilities, but not limited to, all patients, visitors, employees and volunteers. They will be responsible to enforce all established ORMC and Security Department specific policies and procedures as to the Medical Centers protection program which includes physical and procedural security designed to safeguard personnel, prevent unauthorized access to equipment, facilities, materials, information, and documents, and to prevent theft and damage of same.
Minimum Education & Minimum ExperienceRequires an Associate's degree in Criminal Justice, Security or related field and/or direct Law Enforcement/Security experience, at least half of which was in a position of responsible charge.Active shooter response training course is highly desirable.
Required Certification/Registration: Must be licensed and registered with the Armed Security Guard Registry of New York State. Must possess and maintain a valid NYS unrestricted (full carry) firearm license.Valid New York State Driver's license.Must be certified in BLSMust attend hospital crisis training program within 3 months of hire or transfer and annually thereafter.
Physical Demands:Light to heavy duty based on job requirements and emergency situations. May require physical restraint of patients, visitors, and other as necessary.May require armed confrontations.Maintains licensure and proficiency in the use of all assigned protective equipment, restraint devices and firearms.
Working Conditions:Requires long periods of time on foot patrol and rounding within the inside and outside perimeter of ORMC.May be subjected to extended periods of outside work if assigned as a vehicle operator, traffic controller, or scheduled to exterior post assignments, and responding to calls for service.May require frequent involvement in stressful situations both mentally and physically.
