Provides security for Emergency Department patients, associates, and visitors; protects hospital buildings,assets, and premises.
Uniformed Baltimore City police officer.
2 years related security experience.
Valid driver's license in the State of Maryland.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Verbal and written communication skills. Basic computer skills preferred.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Assists with restraining as needed.
Contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies, procedures, quality standards and safety standards. Complies with governmental and accreditation regulations.
Controls parking and traffic flow; enforces parking regulations at Emergency Room entrance of hospital.
Escorts visitors and personnel to parking lots and hospital buildings.
Maintains department records, reports, and files as required.
Monitors conduct of patients and visitors on hospital premises; confronts unauthorized persons for questioning as needed.
Participates in investigations. Prepares incident reports. Continues to follow up as needed to bring incident to closure.
Patrols hospital Emergency Department by foot to prevent fire, theft, vandalism, and intruders. Reports safety and/or fire hazards or security violations. Interacts with fire and law enforcement officials regarding violations occurring on the property. Makes an arrest when necessary.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Responds to inquiries for advice or assistance from hospital personnel and visitors.
Secures patient valuables or lost and found articles; maintains logs of items received.
