ARI VISTA Mobile Market Program

Albany County, Wyoming, has the highest rate of poverty and among the highest rates of food insecurity in the state. The Feeding Laramie Valley Mobile Market Program will help people find a way out of poverty by addressing food insecurity, a critical factor in the high poverty rates.

The Mobile Market will implement a multi-tiered approach to increase healthy food access through its collaborative effort with Big Hollow Food Co-op and Action Resources International. At its core is a retrofitted school bus that will create a countywide traveling sales route to underserved regions identified by the community advisory committee. The VISTA member will implement the expansion of healthy food access through innovative retail purchase opportunities and incentives.

These will include increased geographic access through frequent and regular routes to isolated individuals and families; increased affordability through SNAP incentives, food prescriptions, and sliding scale options along with the mobile market retail sales; affordable price points through membership discounts; and various service project alternative currency hours. Member Duties : The VISTA member will coordinate and supervise volunteers and document and report on all program data. They will build relationships with community members, coordinate the Mobile Market's Community Advisory Council meetings, and assist in outreach and creating marketing materials. In addition, the member will reach out to small local producers with potential new marketing opportunities.
