The company's U.S. entity, Amarin Pharma Inc., is seeking an Area Sales Director responsible for the building, management and leadership of the Area field sales team to achieve/surpass Area sales targets and support achievement of National sales goals. Works hand-in-hand with the Vice President of North American Sales. Responsible for Area budgets, speaker utilization, recruiting/hiring and execution of all Marketing/Sales direction/strategies/tactics. Responsible for sustaining an inspiring work environment that fosters teamwork and innovation; Responsible for delivering business results in accordance with quarterly goals and all compliance guidelines.

Candidates must possess a 4-year college degree and have 10+ years of successful pharmaceutical sales experience, with 5 years leading/managing managers.
Sets objectives and priorities within assigned Area and is responsible for all elements of Area including strategic and business planning, resource deployment, operational efficiencies, talent acquisition, talent development, training, compliance, communications, sales results and other key performance measures.
Develops and executes plans to build an effective team and successfully launches new products and indications, etc.
Sustains a shared focus on results throughout the sales force, monitors sales performance, and adjusts strategy or resources to ensure successful execution and performance. Manages individual performance.
Makes strategic decisions across franchise product portfolio, collaborating with VP of Sales and cross-functional partners as well as external business partners. Leverages strategic thinking with strong business savvy skills to drive business results.
Coaches/trains, motivates, develops and retains a diverse team of individuals who are technically able and consistently execute the business plan strategies to deliver positive results.
Ensures efficient operations (including expense reporting, call/sample management), drives the institution of best practices and effective problem-solving strategies, and allocates resources to optimize business results while considering the long-term implications of decisions.
Performs Company business in accordance with all regulations, Company policy and procedures. Demonstrates high ethical and professional standards at all times.
Communicates in a timely fashion with VP of Sales on a routine basis in order to assist in the ongoing daily management of the field sales force; routinely communicates with Area sales team and co-promote partner.
Perform other duties as assigned
Up to 75% travel including occasional weekend travel
Education/Training: 4year college degree (B.A., B.S. or equivalent), with advanced degree preferred.
10+ years of proven successful professional/business related sales/marketing experience
Pharmaceutical industry required
Minimum 5yr leading/managing sales managers
Experience in cardiovascular or metabolic pharmaceutical sales management strongly preferred.
Previous success with product launches preferred
Understands key stakeholders in the healthcare environment in assigned Area.
Additional experience in other cross-functional roles such as marketing, sales operations, managed markets or training preferred. Strong
