Why This Job
We are currently seeking a Safety Coordinator to join our team in Kankakee, IL! The Safety Coordinator will lead our safety efforts by monitoring the safety performance including injuries, injury prevention, hazard identification, hazard control and correction, compliance with CMC Americas Safety policies and procedures and OSHA regulations, while representing the Safety Department in a professional manner.
This position works with and assists the facility to ensure proper safety orientation, annual training requirements and all required documentation are maintained in accordance to CMC Americas Safety policies and procedures and OSHA regulations. The Safety Coordinator will promote and lead in concert with our Guiding Principles, creating a positive relationship with the crews while being a team player and maintaining high standards and expectations.
What You'll Do
Ensure safety programs are compliant (Injury Illness Prevention, Hazard Identification, Hazard Control and Correction, CMC safety regulations, policies and procedures)
Conduct OSHA compliance training
Coordinate/facilitate all required employee training including but not limited to New Employee Safety Orientation, annual required re-training, forklift, material handler, overhead crane, and site specific equipment safeguards
Completion and filing of all required OSHA and insurance documentation (OSHA 300, OSHA 301 and First Report of Injury)
Continually evaluate tasks to ensure Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) are up to date and implemented
Assist facility in development of corrective actions for identified hazard, to include but not limited to implementation, tracking and follow up
Advise each Branch Manager on compliance with OSHA and CMC safety regulations and policies
Monitor, organize and administer OSHA and CMC documentation compliance
Monitor, organize and if necessary, administer required training and certifications for each branch employee
Monthly physical plant inspection
Identify areas of risk and hazards
Actively involved in promoting a successful Proactive Safety Measures program
Assist, conduct and follow up of safety council meetings and monthly facility inspections
What You'll Need
Minimum one to three years experience identifying and addressing workplace hazards which includes items such as incident prevention techniques and safety committee leadership
Bilingual Spanish preferred
Available for travel up to 25% of the time
Knowledge of OSHA and DOT regulations
Experience working with / in state workers compensation system
No violation for careless, negligent or reckless operation of a Commercial Motor Vehicle in previous 3 years
Experience working with health and safety regulatory compliance agencies at the local, state and federal levels
Possesses verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to conduct presentations and training courses
Must be able to work well with others and create a team atmosphere starting with safety
Must possess great interpersonal skills causing influence and change in the area of safety
Working knowledge experience of Safety management
Experience in analyzing information in accident / incident investigations
Experience with Environmental auditing, preferred
Proficient in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
Ability to prioritize and multitask responsibilities daily
Your Education
High School Diploma or GED required
College, technical trade, and/or military training/education preferred
