The Schneider organization has an immediate need for an Area Planning Manager to ensure business needs are met by balancing service, capacity and profitability. The Area Planning Manager is accountable for establishing and executing the hands on planning and revenue management for a specific geographic market by matching available driver capacity and equipment with customer freight. As an influential leader, you are the key collaborator between our sales, customer service and operations teams to ensure overall success of your region. This dynamic role requires you to have a strong understanding of the area market strengths and demands to help position us for future profitability. The person in this role is pivotal for developing business opportunities for the organization.
Duties to include but not limited to:
Establish the market plan for a geographic region to include: shift direction, priority of freight, load and stage, driver calendar requests, etc. Continually assess market conditions and performance, and adjust plan accordingly.
Assign freight to drivers in accordance with the market plan to maximize all aspects of the value triangle (profitability, customer satisfaction, and driver retention). All decisions also need to be made in accordance with Schneider's #1 core value: safety.
Generate actions to improve key factor results such as: monitoring number of trucks sitting, drivers with greater than 16 unused hours, relays, unbilled miles, etc.
Communicate market plan to customer service, operations, and support shift Transportation Planners.

Our preferred candidate will have:
Four year college degree or equivalent experience
Transportation and dispatch experience required. Solid business and financial acumen
Demonstrated excellence as an empowering leader with strong coaching and mentoring skills.
Strong work ethic with a professional, positive attitude
Creative problem-solving skills and ability to evaluate multiple solutions to make sound decisions
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
