On its busiest day, Cyber Monday, Amazon customers around the world have ordered more than 400 items per second and the transportation teams play a critical role ensuring packages make it to customers' doors on-time and in great condition. Our Area Managers are responsible for management and supervision over the day-to-day operations of delivery stations in the Amazon network, including inbound, outbound, and sortation operations. Area Managers actively engage with site and regional operations leadership to develop and implement new operational improvements and new services. We expect our managers to continually identify ways to improve our operations.

Key Job Duties

  • Act as second-in-command to Station Manager in managing to achieve station safety, quality, productivity and CE performance and to include interviewing, hiring, promotions, discipline, and terminations of employment

  • Responsible for managing associates to achieve operational metrics for areas of responsibility

  • Managing to meet expectations regarding Standard Work, Gemba, reporting and root cause defects

  • Conduct daily and weekly performance meetings

  • Oversee response to customer/TOC escalations

  • Assess and develop future production and labor plans

  • Interact with all support teams (LP, quality, safety, HR etc.) to develop plans to meet business objectives

  • Analyze and oversight of scheduling and staffing requirements for area of responsibility

  • Volume planning/contingency planning

  • Subject matter expert for all process areas in the station (Sort, OnRoad, RTS)

  • Ensuring process compliance and reporting for areas of responsibility (LP, Safety, Quality, HR)

  • Support team interaction and escalation for area of responsibility

  • Develop an environment that drives performance while maintaining safe environment and ensure timely reporting

  • Point of contact for safety/security issues that occur on site, incident commander in event of an issue

  • Day-to-day management/supervision, including coverage and scheduling of L4 Shift Managers

  • Oversight and participation in ensuring appropriate performance management for Amazon L1-L3 associates (does not apply to temporary associates)

  • Occasional work in direct process path (if needed)

  • Vacation coverage for Station Manager (if needed)

Additional Job Elements:

  • Must be able to lift up to 49 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation

  • Must be willing and able to frequently push, pull, squat, bend, and reach

  • Must be able to stand/walk for up to 10-12 hours

  • Must be able to work in an environment where the noise level varies and can be loud

  • Must be able to work in an environment where the temperature may vary between 60 and 90 degrees, and will occasionally exceed 90 degrees

  • Must be able to continuously climb and descend stairs safely (applies to sites with stairs)

  • Must be able to work on a secure mezzanine at a height of up to 40 feet (applies to buildings with mezzanines)

In addition, you will assist corporate safety with the development of safety policies, procedures and industry guidelines for wireless construction within MNS. Responsibilities will include, the identification and guidance of safety principles with the ability to advise regarding compliance as outlined by MNS,OSHA directives and ANSI standards. The primary responsibilities are to perform Site Safety Observations, assist Market field teams in the adherence of Company, Federal, State and Customer safety regulations, while promoting a proactive safety culture. Job Functions: 1. Conduct random jobsite visits building rapport and coaching crews utilizing Site Safety Observations. 2. Initializing corrective actions, identifying leading indicators and identifying possible training improvements. 3. Participate and provide leadership for weekly market safety meetings involving discussions to mitigate hazards, conduct incident root cause investigations, or assist operations with pre-job planning. 4. Serve as a resource to our employees for customer specifications regarding, OSHA regulations, ANSI standards and MNS safety policies. Support the Market Operations Construction Team and Field crews. 5. Provide assistance to review and verify required critical certifications for field members and General Contractors. 6. Work with the National Safety Team in the development of safety initiatives, educating employee of MNS Safety metrics and, act as a safety liaison with industry committees and initiatives as needed. 7. Implement, interact and maintain pro-active communication with Market Operations and Regional/Corporate Safety 8. Periodically conduct and participate in training as directed by the Training Division. 9. Provide insight to the training team as to training program revisions, practical training modules and methodology. 10. Provide assistance and support to Customer, State and Federal entities during inspections, inquiries or corrective action initiatives. 11. Participate and be responsive in a rotational on call, after hours schedule including weekends and company holidays. Working Conditions and Physical Demands: 1. Estimated travel minimal sixty percent (60%) of the time across the MNS footprint. 2. Ability to work in all weather conditions, given safe conditions for the work on-site. 3. Must be available by phone 24 x 7 during your scheduled rotation. 4. Must be in good physical condition with ability to pull combined weight of body and equipment up a vertical tower. 5. Must be comfortable climbing to heights of 300ft. or more 6. Must be able to bend, squat, twist and sit for extended periods of time as needed Job Requirements Skills: 1.
