The Area Maintenance Specialist is a traveling Maintenance Expert for several Bay Area properties. You will partner with Property Managers to meet budget goals, maintain property standards and preventive maintenance schedules, and respond to insurance situations eg water damage, and flooding. The position emphasizes fostering positive relationships, ensuring efficient maintenance operations, and upholding Mercy Housing's mission and values. This position will also implement and maintain environmentally responsible guidelines, ensure on-call maintenance and emergency response are executed, and coordinate the work of maintenance and construction vendors. The successful candidate will be able to "think on their feet", plan and direct the work of others, communicate clearly deadlines and expectations, assess a situation, and provide solutions.

Pay: $35.00/hour DOE

Duties:

  • Partner with the Property Manager to follow budgetary guidelines and achieve property goals.

  • Collaborate on maintenance contracts to achieve quality and cost-effectiveness.

  • Coordinate on-call maintenance and emergency response procedures.

  • Update and implement property crisis response plans.

  • Foster positive internal and external relationships and respond to requests promptly.

  • Available to work outside normal business hours and travel as needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS OF POSITION

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Technical training and expertise in one or more building trades.

  • Minimum of two (2) years in skilled maintenance work.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS OF POSITION

  • Technical certifications.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Understand communicate in the English language, both orally and in writing.

  • Perform basic math and understand measurement systems used in the trade.

  • Read and interpret electrical, plumbing, and mechanical diagrams and blueprints.

  • Make working sketches.

  • Use maintenance, trade, and testing equipment and tools.

  • Interpret and understand maintenance information generated from property management software reports.

  • Basic computer skills.
