The Area Human Resources Generalist (AHRS) works with the HR Director to provide HR support for 4 designated facilities in the Memphis area (Memphis, West Memphis & Blue Mountain, MS). The generalist will have responsibilities in the following functional areas: employee relations, hourly recruiting, onboarding, training, performance management, policy implementation, onboarding, employment law compliance, and benefits/leave/worker's compensation administration.

The AHRS is viewed as an "Employee Advocate" who voices employee concerns to leaders, and ensures fair and equitable treatment. As an HR professional, this person models our company's Guiding Principles and champions our Always Made Right, Always Made Safe Culture.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Talent Acquisition
  • Conducts recruitment efforts for non-exempt roles, coordinates the interview process and interview candidates, and conducts new-employee orientations.
  • Training
  • Develops and delivers training programs.
  • Payroll
  • Administers and processes payroll.
  • HR Administrator
  • Prepares and maintains employment records, pay changes, promotions, terminations, and other employment activities; supports and administers plant recognition programs and oversees progressive discipline process for hourly employees; assists with and prepares changes in employment status, terminations, time-off request, documentation and compliance.
  • Employee Relations - investigates and addresses employee relations issues.

  • Policy Implementation

  • Prepares internal employee communications regarding compensation, benefits, or other company policies.
  • Worker's Compensation
  • Manages Worker's Comp claims.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • A.S. degree in Human Resources or equivalent experience; Bachelor's Degree strongly preferred

  • A minimum of 4 years of human resources generalist experience

  • Previous HR experience working in a manufacturing environment or similar industry (restaurant, hospitality, distribution, transportation, healthcare, etc.)

  • Experience handling employee relations

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel)

  • Experience processing payroll for hourly employees (Workday preferred)

  • Experience with an HRIS system (Workday preferred)

  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information

  • Experience with hourly recruiting or staffing

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to communicate with all levels of employees and to prepare and give training presentations

Preferred:

  • Master's or MBA in Human Resources or a related field

  • Professional or Senior Professional Human Resources (PHR/SPH) certification or other relevant certifications
