Young Life Fairbanks , AK 99701

Posted 3 weeks ago

Description:

The Fairbanks community is an exceptional place, full of fantastic, welcoming people. Here you'll find the Northern Lights on full display throughout the fall, winter and early spring. Summers in Fairbanks are beautiful with warm, sunny weather and outdoor activities galore.

We are looking for a full-time area director with a proven history of strong, Christ-centered, relational leadership. We live at a slightly slower pace in Alaska and believe that you can invest in kids and leaders the very best if you're also investing in a HEALTHY rhythm of life. We have an active high school club right now with a solid group of volunteers, along with a growing YoungLives program led by a full-time staff person. Additionally, the area has an outstanding part-time administrator. We also have a strong group of adults who form the area committee and are waiting to support a director who will help Fairbanks Young Life thrive. This position has the potential to grow into a supervisory role to help support Young Life in the northern portion of the road system.

We believe in God's calling, and if God is calling you here, we believe He will provide a way to make it happen, as He always does!

Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate spiritual leadership on a personal and professional level.

  • Coordinate with local churches.

  • Model excellence to other leaders in contact work, club, Campaigners and camping.

  • Develop a plan to recruit, train, disciple and develop local volunteer leaders.

  • Establish and develop the area calendar including clubs, Campaigners, camps and special events.

  • Develop local relationships with leaders in the community in order to share the vision of Young Life and invite them into it.

  • Raise personal support and maintain good donor-care practices.

  • Oversee the resource development of the area; meet with donors and help with fundraising events and/or opportunities.

  • Communicate ministry updates and progress to donor partners.

  • Maintain accurate information on kids, leaders and donors for area records.

  • Participate in or lead staff events and training events as required.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated strong team leadership, ideally with Young Life.

  • Previous work with adolescent kids is necessary, ideally with Young Life.

  • Past Young Life staff experience is preferred.

  • Willingness to commit to serve three to five years.

  • Have an adventurous and adaptable attitude.

  • Vision and ability to recruit, develop and multiply leaders.

  • Innovative attitude toward developing ministry.

  • Ability to identify and develop fundraising opportunities within the local community.

  • Must maintain confidentiality.

  • College degree preferred.

  • Proven relational skills with both kids and adults.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Hungry, humble and smart.

Benefits:

  • Medical, dental and vision coverage (at no cost to you).

  • Paid vacation and sick leave.

  • 401(k) matching plan (up to four percent).

  • Health club benefit.

  • And more!
