University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy in St. Louis is currently looking for a live-in Residential Life Area Coordinator to supervise all aspects of two residence spaces on campus. In this role, you will collaborate with the Public Safety, Facility Management, Academic Support, Student Engagement and Counseling and Wellness to provide a safe, comfortable environment that promotes balance, positive relationships, and social justice. In addition, as the Area Coordinator, you will be involved in handling administrative details necessary for the day-to-day management of the University's residence hall spaces and so forth.

You will get to:

  • Recruit, select, train, supervise, develop, evaluate, and recognize student paraprofessional staff of 10 Resident Assistants (RA)

  • Establish and lead a comprehensive and systematic programming effort for both residence halls to build community and foster growth

  • Manage administrative duties to ensure positive environment for residents to include: coordinating room assignments, room change process, move-in / move-out procedures, and health & safety inspections; updating occupancy agreements; on-call rotation responsibilities; budget management; administering hall openings and closings; hall signage approvals / distribution; handling roommate conflicts, personal crises and/or facility issues; and supporting and administering department or division assessments

  • Assess residence life program by conducting annual survey with all residents, identifying continuous improvement goals, and measuring satisfaction rates with campus living, RAs, Food Services, etc.

  • Live on campus in a furnished 2-bedroom apartment and receive room, board, and parking

Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A bachelor's degree required; graduate work and/or advanced degree in student affairs, educational administration, or an academic field is preferred

  • Prior experience as a residence life and/or student affairs staff member required; 2-3 years of full-time professional experience in residence life and/or student affairs preferred

  • Experience supervising student paraprofessional staff and advising student groupspreferred

  • Must live on campus in assigned apartment as the primary residence; previous experience living in campus housingpreferred

  • Effective interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills

  • Demonstrated organization and project management skills

  • Ability to present effectively to small and large groups

  • Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community

  • Ability to work flexible hours to meet the scheduling needs of students which often includes nights and weekends

  • Must be available to work on-call rotation during nights and weekends

  • Able to address multiple tasks simultaneously and work under tight deadlines

  • Able to work independently and in a team environment

  • Proficient in computer skills and administrative software
