As the Area Coordinator you must have a passion for student engagement, community development, and operational excellence in campus housing. As the Coordinator, you will oversee the day-to-day operations of our residence halls and housing services, ensuring a high-quality living experience for our students.
Essential Functions:
Staff Development
Trains, supervises, and evaluates a team of Resident Assistants (RAs)
Assists RAs in creating a community that is conducive to their students' academic and personal success
Facilitates weekly 1:1 meetings and RA team meetings
Serves as a hearing officer for lower-level conduct cases, as assigned by the Director of Residence Life & Housing
On-Call Responsibilities
Live on campus
Serves on an on-call rotation for the residential facilities
Documents all incidents via Maxient software
Understands, communicates, and upholds all College and Housing policies and procedures
Provides campus and community resources information to residents as needed
Administrative Responsibilities
Develops and facilitates training sessions during August and January RA trainings
Assist with the resolution of crises in an educational and timely manner
Conducts thorough monthly walk-throughs of all residential buildings in the Village area
Additional hours during peak periods will be required. This includes but is not limited to staff training, building openings and closings
Assist with campus wide programming
Assist with clubs and organizations
Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree required
Minimum 1 year of Residence Life experience required
Excellent listening, verbal and written communication skills
Outstanding supervisory and interpersonal skills
High quality analytical and critical thinking skills
Thorough understanding of student development theory and applying theory to practice
Knowledge of student learning outcomes and best practices
Commitment to teamwork, collegiality, and collaboration
Ability to work on multiple projects concurrently
Familiarity with modern office practices and procedures, including on-line computer systems, personal computers, email and internet
