Area Coordinator

The Office of Residence Life seeks an Area Coordinator to serve as a live-in professional responsible for the vision and operation of multiple residential areas on the Worcester campus. The Worcester campus is comprised of graduate and professional students participating in year-round, accelerated programs. The Residence Life community in Worcester includes approximately 550 residents, living in an array of housing options throughout downtown. This is a full-time, year round, live-in position that includes a two-bedroom apartment.

Leadership and Programming (60%)

• Promotes an atmosphere of quality interaction, shared accountability, and civic responsibility within the residence hall and university community.

• Encourages student accountability for the Student Code of Conduct and Residence Life policies and procedures by serving as a student conduct hearing officer.

• Assists community members in managing conflict between individuals and within groups.

• Participates in the planning, implementation and assessment of student staff selection and training, and supervises Resident Assistant staff in assigned area(s).

• Oversees the planning, implementation, and evaluation of programming offered in the residence halls.

• Meets with students and provides support, solutions and/or referrals as appropriate.

Operations (40%)

• Participates in the residence life on-call duty rotation and serves as a primary contact for on-campus emergencies.

• Collaborates closely with Facilities, Public Safety, and other campus partners to ensure a safe and comfortable living environment for residents.

• Coordinates move-in/move-out procedures and works collaboratively with Operations staff regarding occupancy numbers and room changes throughout the year.

• Participates in programs and committees that support the Division of Student Affairs and the University.

• Contributes to sustaining and enhancing an inclusive working and learning environment

• Additional responsibilities may be assigned by the supervisor.
