About The Role

  • 27472 - Area Business Manager (North)

The Area Business Manager manages the safe, efficient, and profitable provision of explosives products and blasting services to customers in their geographical area and d directly manages site operations, customer contracts and relationships and, through relevant SMEs, provision of technical services and solutions to meet customer requirements.

A company vehicle will be provided.

What you will be doing

  • Manages operational activities at Sites in line with applicable SHES policies.

  • Delivers on all measures documented in Letter of Assurance and SHES plans for Area.

  • Actively manages assets through their life cycle, including sustenance capital spend and replacement planning Ensures that reliability of all assets on the reserve is maintained at an appropriately high level, by ensuring effective maintenance systems and resources are in place.

  • Manages performance against budget and actively work to identify methods of reducing cost across the Area.

  • Develops plans to ensure the maximum utilization, availability, and security of business assets.

  • Develops and implements an operational improvement plan to drive productivity improvements.

  • Ensure that appropriate work arrangements are in place to provide a flexible workforce, by direct involvement in negotiation of these arrangements.

  • Proactively manages customer relationships to Site GM level.

  • Delivers revenue, EBIT and Trading Profit targets for the Area Develops and drives the implementation of a sales plan to retain existing business and win Greenfields and competitor accounts.

  • Maintains a leading market share for the Area by leading solutions and service offerings to the market.

  • Manages contracts effectively and drive contractual improvements.

  • Implements regional and global market strategies and pricing policies, conduct price reviews, and ensure feedback on their effectiveness/competitive response.

  • Manages variations.

  • Identifies opportunities and implements plans to reduce and eliminate nonvalue adding activity.

  • Reviews, develops, and manages Account Management Plans for all customers including the improvement of reconciliation processes.

  • Markets new products through an increase in product/service trials being conducted on competitor sites across the Area.

  • Leads the application of technologies, products, and services to provide effective solutions for customers in Area Ensures timely response to customer needs by working closely with Orica support areas such as Supply Chain, Technical Services, SHES, HR, Customer Support & Operations Support.

  • Ensures the business has the highest achievable quality and productivity in resourcing by ensuring planning & initiatives are linked to the achievement of business objectives and consistent with strategies.

  • Provides strategic influencing to the business region as a key member of the management team.

What you will bring

  • Minimum 10 years of experience post professional qualification.

  • Advanced knowledge of internal processes and policies, or ability to rapidly acquire same.

  • International experience preferred.

  • Extensive line management in a variety of roles and environments.

  • Well-developed mentoring and coaching skills.

  • Proven ability to lead a team, including building a collaborative approach in the development of the direction and operations of the workstream.

  • Proven influencer, able to manage processes across multiple stakeholder groups.

  • Stakeholder management, including C-level: ability to operate effectively at both the strategic and operational level.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, including prioritization, planning, task delegation, and coordination across multiple teams.

  • Demonstrated skills associated with building strong vendor &/or customer relationships.

  • Financial acumen & budgeting experience.

  • Able to build structure in ambiguous situations and establish best practices.
