Greater Mankato Young Life is an international ecumenical Christian ministry with a local area located in Mankato, MN. Our Mankato ministry is comprised of 30 volunteers mentoring over 200 kids. During the school year our volunteers host weekly events for middle school, high school, and college aged students. During the summers we take dozens of kids to Young Life camp properties across the US. This is a dynamic role requiring the ability to manage several details and the ability to work with kids and adults of all ages. We are looking to hire a part-time area operations expert. This person will play a key role in the operations of the area. The key functions would be centered on running our fundraising events, managing our camp trips, leading our communication (external) plan, managing our financial data and other administrative duties. This would position would be around 15-20 hours a week.
In an area with 3 clubs and almost 30 volunteers, this role is a key role to help us execute excellent ministry. This role works very closely with the other staff, leaders, committee and parents. The goal of this role is to help our current direct ministry staff focus on more kids and growing the ministry.
Responsibilities:
Communication
Point person for our strategy of communication (external)
Lead our social media presence (Facebook)
Coordinate our monthly email newsletter
Assist in communication plan to donors
Send follow up notes after our monthly committee meeting
Events
Lead the team in our fundraising events (banquet and camp fundraisers)
Coordinate registration process and communication to all participants
Coordinate (design or order) all event materials
Communication with event facilities
Lead day of logistics and coordination of tasks
Lead the process of follow up for each event
Set up and coordinate camp fundraiser logistics and communication (wing-a-thon and mulch sales)
Camp management
Set up and coordinate all registration material (website, registration pages, flyers, etc)
Manage camper registrations and payments
Communication to families regarding details of camp trips throughout the year
Coordinate transportation contracts and logistics
Assist in camp trip departures
Financial management
Process and track all incoming donations
Manage the monthly cash flow system
Develop a monthly financial report
Complete reimbursement requests for volunteers
Plan and execute a quarterly thank you program for donors in our area
Administration duties
Answer phone, respond to email inquiries, manage incoming and outgoing mail
Lead staff team in bulk mailings
Input kid contact cards when needed
Training
Participate in any admin training/support offered by the region
Regional meetings
Choice of various other Young Life trainings on an annual basis
Qualifications:
High school education or equivalent.
Associate degree preferred but not required.
Strong interpersonal skills with both adults and kids.
Proficient in some graphic design or willingness to learn.
Excellent written/verbal communication skills.
Previous administrative experience preferred.
Proficiency in programs such as Microsoft Office Suite (includes Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint) and Google Docs.
Salesforce experience preferred but not required
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
High capacity for managing concurrent tasks and constant interruptions.
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Willing to show initiative to develop processes/systems to better serve the area.
