Position Summary

The University of Georgia is seeking qualified candidates to serve as a community-engagement facilitator, known as an Archway Professional. This position is a Public Service & Outreach Faculty member that will serve the Connected Resilient Communities Program. The Archway Partnership is a Public Service and Outreach Unit under the leadership of the Vice President for Public Service and Outreach. Archway is a nationally recognized leader in community engagement and stakeholder facilitation.

Connected Resilient Communities (CRC) is a time-limited opportunity to learn to leverage the resources of the University of Georgia in data analytics, community engagement, and subject matter expertise to address community and economic development challenges. CRC is facilitated by the Archway Partnership and led by the Community Engagement Manager. CRC onboards eight new communities each year. The CRC Archway Professional will be the primary point of contact for four of these new partnerships each year. This position is funded by a congressionally designated grant from the U.S. Department of Labor to support the expansion of the CRC program.

The position carries rank in the public service faculty career ladder of the University of Georgia at the Public Service Assistant level. This is a statewide position and requires the ability to travel to locations across Georgia during the day, in the evening, and on weekends as needed. Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, and/or Certification

  • Three years of experience in community development, economic development, public administration, planning, non-profit, community organizing, leadership development, or regional planning.

  • Background in group facilitation, consensus building, focus groups, public engagement, and community organizing.

  • Background interacting with people of underrepresented racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.

  • Proven professional who is responsive, service oriented, efficient, and timely with the desire to work as a member of a team sharing common goals and mission.

  • Excellent writing, organizational, and interpersonal skills; strong attention to detail, including the ability to present scientific, technical, and programmatic information to varied audiences.

  • Proven community program and project management skills.

  • Excellent data analytics and computer skills, including proficiency with MS Office.

  • Ability and willingness to travel to locations across Georgia as needed.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a high performing team.

Duties/Responsibilities

Duties/Responsibilities

1.Serve as a primary point of contact for four new communities entering the CRC program each year.

2.Facilitate the development of resiliency plans for four partner communities each year.

3.Seek cross-campus partnerships and opportunities in collaboration with University of Georgia Schools, Colleges, and Public Service & Outreach (PSO) units, in addition to networking with key state agencies, regional partnerships, non-profit agencies, professional trade organizations, and corporate partners with a mission to cultivate and strengthen these relationships.

4.Demonstrate partnership, collaboration, and community engagement best practices and principles.

5.Coordinate student experiential learning and faculty research during community programs or projects.

6.Document activities and program impact through a variety of evaluation mechanisms.

7.Position local partnerships, programs, and projects for marketing and promotional media opportunities.

8.Assist Community Engagement Manager with projects for other CRC communities.

9.Assist Community Engagement Manager in marketing and recruiting for the CRC program.



  1. Participate in scholarship and grants as commensurate with a public service faculty position.
