Job Responsibilities
Under general supervision, assists in creating and maintaining procedures and practices for establishing and managing the intellectual control of electronic records of state agencies and local government subdivisions that have been permanently transferred to the state archives or are scheduled to be transferred.
Plans, develops and implements procedures for preserving and providing access to electronic records through the SC Electronic Records Archives using Preservica software.
Provides direction to other archivists in the processing of electronic records for archival retention.
Works with other agencies to develop procedures for preserving and providing access to electronic records deemed archival.
Provides assistance to the Record Management Unit with the identification, evaluation and scheduling of potential archival records involving electronic formats.
Plans and develops procedures and practices for digitizing of archival records.
Advises and provides reference assistance regarding historical or genealogical research.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
Bachelor's degree in history, political science or a related field.
Knowledge of South Carolina history and government organization.
General knowledge of digital records issues.
Ability to communicate in a clear and efficient manner, both orally and in writing.
Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with the public, staff, and other professionals.
Ability to use Microsoft Word, Outlook and Access software.
Ability to lift 40 lbs. to shoulder height required.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in history, library and information science, or public history with coursework in archival administration and principles.
Familiarity with Proficio and Preservica software.
Familiarity with Dublin Core and EAD metadata standards.
Experience with command line tools or automated scripts.
