ABOUT THE POSITION
Long Beach Community College District is currently seeking one full-time tenure track Architecture/ Drafting Instructor commencing with the 2019 fall semester. The primary assignment involves developing and teaching Building Information Modeling and Architectural Design and Technology courses, to prepare students for design-related careers and/ or transfer to a professional degree program in architecture, interior design or city planning. This position is also includes curriculum development, participation in the shared governance process through work in normal professional activities, committee work, and student activities.
The position is Open Until Filled.

Bachelor's degree and two years of experience in the discipline; OR
An Associate degree and six years of experience in the discipline; OR
Hold a valid credential to teach in the discipline; OR
The equivalent AND
Evidence of demonstrated cultural competency and enthusiasm in serving the diverse academic, socioeconomic, gender identity, sexual orientation, racial, and cultural backgrounds of community college student populations, including students with differing abilities (physical and/or learning), as these factors relate to the need for equity-minded practices within the classroom.
At least three years recent documented industry experience in the architectural field
Documented recent experience with AutoCAD/REVIT
Teaching and/or industry training experience in architectural technology topics in any of the following formats: teaching courses, training sessions, conducting professional development workshops, and/or other continuing education seminars
Post-secondary teaching experience in Architectural Technology
Experience with assessment of student learning outcomes
Experience with distance learning and/or alternate instructional delivery systems
Evidence of the ability to use a variety of teaching strategies that encourage retention while successfully challenging diverse student populations.
Desire and demonstrated ability to participate actively in department, division, and college committees and in the shared governance of Long Beach City College.
Desire and evidence of an ability to take on leadership roles both within the department and in the institution as a whole.
Commitment to the Mission and Strategic Objectives of the two-year college.
Evidence of an ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
