Huitt-Zollars, Inc. has a full-time Architectural Intern (Entry Level Architect) opporutnity at our Downtown Houston, TX office. The successful candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Architecture with 0-2 years of architectural design experience. This entry-level position is great for a candidate who would like to join an award winning firm and work collaboratively with a fantastic team of architects. The role works with minimal supervision producing design and construction drawings for architectural projects, applying knowledge of design, building materials and assemblies. The successful candidates will work under the direction of the project manager on Texas architectural projects with increasing responsibility over time in an environment that fosters mentorship, career development and future advancement.

Responsibilities:

  • Researches materials and assemblies for appropriate incorporation into design and construction drawings as directed by a supervisor

  • Creates BIM models and prepares design and construction drawings using information supplied by a supervisor or data obtained from research activities

  • Integrates information from consultants and suppliers into models and drawings

  • Constructs architectural models and prepares presentation boards for use by other staff in presenting to a client for approval

  • Intern I will visit site under direct supervision and assist with the documentation of findings

  • Processes contractor submittals by logging in the submittals and routing them to the appropriate party for review

  • May be required to attend, record, and distribute meeting minutes and assist with general project correspondence

  • Intern I writes or prepares graphic materials for presentations or documents

Requirements:

  • Bachelors' Degree in Architecture

  • Proficient in MS Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, and Acrobat

  • Newforma, Vision,Navisworks, Revit, ACA, and/or Vectorworks

  • Knowledge of building design and construction means, methods and techniques

  • Knowledge of architectural history, current architectural design discourse and sustainable design approaches

  • Ability to prepare architectural documents and specifications for projects

  • Ability to read redlines and modify BIM models or drawings accordingly

  • Ability to write clearly to communicate technical issues and design ideas

  • Ability to present in a meeting and work in a team environment

  • Ability to design printed and digital documents

  • Ability to manage and complete multiple tasks

Your Key Responsibilities You'll be engaged in three month collaboration with designers and planners from across the firm to reimagine the future of architecture for community. The program will be offered in our Plano, Houston, San Antonio and Austin offices, begins May 2019 and runs through August 2019.
