Architectural Designer 2

The Role

Lamar Johnson Collaborative (LJC) is looking to hire an Architectural Designer 2 to join our team in Chicago as a contributor to a variety of design projects, research, and conduct analysis to support our diverse and innovative Industrial Design practice.

The ideal candidate will enhance and assist the practice's leadership team, helping it grow and expand its presence and portfolio through intentional project pursuits and client relationships. The Architectural Designer 2 will be counted on to engage and collaborate with project and studio peers, as well as work across LJC disciplines and parent company Clayco's construction and real estate arms to help our entire enterprise thrive.

Role Responsibilities

• Develop design elements of projects and/or construction drawings for projects under supervision of a licensed senior architect.

• Interface with contractors, consulting engineers, and the internal team to deliver exceptional quality through consistent communication.

• Careful attention to the project budget and allowable fee, close adherence to the project timeline, and an application of technical knowledge, all under supervision of a licensed senior architect.

• May provide technical supervision only to junior designers in developing design and proposal materials.

Qualifications

Architectural Designer 2 at LJC possess:

• Bachelor's degree (Architecture or related field), or foreign equivalent.

• 8 years of relevant experience.

• Demonstrated competence with computer-based rendering and drafting tools (Revit and AutoCAD); Adobe Creative Suite (especially Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign); MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word); and developing construction documents.

• Domestic travel required up to 5% of work schedule.

• Position allows for occasional telecommuting within reasonable commuting distance of the reporting office in Culver City, CA.
