The Opportunity

RS&H is currently seeking an experienced, Architectural BIM Manager to join our Aviation practice.

Location can be in our Dallas, Denver, Chicago, Jacksonville or Charlotte offices.

Duties & Essential Job Functions


  • Manage software products including but not limited to incorporating new version releases and customization of the product

  • Manage the implementation of supporting software for BIM

  • Evaluate new BIM related software and technologies

  • Stay informed on best practices for use of Revit and BIM

  • Stay informed on other BIM related software and how they work with Revit

  • Installation and support of related BIM software


  • Responsible for master/template set-up and technical administration, as well as being fully engaged in production's project work to maintain software skills

  • Creation and maintenance of the software Template files to assure standards

  • Provide support for plotting and electronic file submissions

  • Automate routines in BIM to support standards and productivity

  • Provide quality control for completeness and adherence to BIM Execution Plan as well as company standards

  • Assist in developing and enforcing BIM documentation and workflow process standards

  • Train and oversee the day-to-day activities of the Revit specialists on each project to ensure BIM standards are maintained in the creation of the Architectural Revit model

  • Ensure all models are compatible and BIM data is available to all project participants.


  • Will report directly to the Buildings Group Service Leader and liaise with RS&H's enterprise BIM Leader.

  • Will be responsible for the management of BIM execution for the Buildings Service Group (architectural and engineering) design project in 7 offices Jacksonville, Charlotte, Fort Lauderdale, Chicago, Denver, Dallas, and Los Angeles.

  • Create written technologies evaluations and budgets for future technology adoption that aligns with the Firm's goals

  • Chair Aviation's BIM presence on the BIM Task Force

  • Report on the current and projected state of BIM implementation

  • Have a Client (Outward) Mindset: Enjoy working with all sorts of people in varying environments and dynamic projects. Be comfortable shifting regularly and quickly from one project to another. Take pride in and be good at understanding and working with staff to build long-term relationships

  • Manage Multiple Tasks: Apply sound time and project management to track, prioritize, and complete multiple assigned tasks in fluctuating work environments and multiple distractions (phone calls, appointments, proposals, etc.)

  • Create, upgrade, and deploy strategies for the BIM implementation effort

  • Assess: evaluate current workflows, strategies, budgets, projects, staffing,

  • Plan: create a plan for implementation based on the BIM Master Task List previously

  • Solve: Execute the plan, install the software, get templates created, get training, be integral to pilot projects,

  • Confirm: Be able to demonstrate the success by evaluating goals established in the assess


  • Provide hardware and network support working closely with IT as it relates to BIM production

  • Support BIM technology needs of other offices

  • Liaison with national vendors, software developers, and other related fields


  • Internal training: provide Revit fundamental and intermediate training to staff and on- boarding training

  • Create a Revit assessment for use with potential new hires to assess their skill more than whether they've opened the software.

  • Assessment determines HOW they've

  • Conduct on-going training of the use of new features and developing workflows

  • Provide technical orientation to new hires regarding BIM

  • Maintain high level of competency of software through continued use and training

  • Attend conferences, seminars, and workshops for BIM; bring back learning for integration within the firm

  • Monitor industry trends and stay apprised of available and evolving CAD/BIM platforms, ensuring technicians are utilizing the latest and best solutions available. Continue to search for ways BG can use Revit to also move our Clients forward in the industry.

Project Interface

  • Vet existing library for compliance

  • Support project standards coordination with customers

  • Assist on project work modeling and detailing and family creation

  • Assist project teams in BIM project setup

  • Assist the project teams with production where time permits and specifically in support of our most complex design projects.

  • Create Revit families in response to project needs

  • Help resolve BIM design issues

  • Manage and distribute coordinated digital documents to the project team

  • Coordinate needed hardware upgrades with IT

  • Link BIM to project construction administration phase for submittals, construction models, shop drawings and schedules

  • Works on multiple projects of moderate size or portions of major projects

Marketing of BIM services

  • Web, literature, interviews, presenting at relevant client focused conferences

  • Future BIM/Revit industry initiatives and developments

  • Identify trends and business opportunities relating to BIM

  • Evaluate and make recommendations regarding BIM software

Liaison for BIM Process

  • Future planning for potential uses of BIM

  • Sustainable design

  • Planning

Qualifications Required

  • At least 2 years of secondary education or work experience related to use of AutoCAD, Revit or related design platforms. Bachelor's degree in Architecture or related field from an accredited college or university preferred.

  • Proficient in Autodesk programs (AutoCAD and Revit) and industry standards for these programs.

  • 3+ years of applicable work experience using CAD/BIM platforms in an Architecture firm.

  • Experience in developing and documenting workflows and standards with CAD/BIM platforms, and overseeing the implementation of such throughout an organization.

  • 7+ years of in-depth Revit production experience including parametric family creation and construction documentation.

  • 3+ years of in-depth Revit experience in template creation.

  • In-depth knowledge of drafting and modeling standards.

  • Must have in-depth working knowledge of current BIM versions.

  • Strong writing and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to take on additional responsibilities as necessary.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Dynamo for Revit experience.

  • Programming experience.
