Responsibilities

  • Responsible for preparing presentation drawings and models and developing designs and technical solutions throughout all phases of a project.

  • Participate and contribute to design discussions, idea generation, and design work in drawing, model and 3D image formats.

  • Work closely with team members and assist to complete projects on aggressive schedules by meeting deadlines within expected time and budget constraints.

  • Generate revisions and corrections from outline mock-ups, redlined drawings and project document sets.

  • Attend client meetings to observe the overall process and develop presentation skills.

  • Participate in construction site visits to better understand the construction process.

  • Recognize and document conflicts that arise during construction and offer alternatives to resolve these issues.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in architecture required. Master's degree preferred.

  • Previous internship experience and/or relevant architectural experience in one of Flad's market segments preferred.

  • Proficiency in Rhino or SketchUp, and 3D rendering software required. Beginner Revit knowledge required; have at least one year recent Revit experience in an academic or professional setting. Understands how Revit works, but may not have completed a project from start to finish. Has made edits to existing drawings, models, etc. Intermediate Revit knowledge preferred.

  • Experience with AutoCAD, Grasshopper, Dynamo, Power Bi, and Adobe Creative Suite preferred.

  • Portfolio that demonstrates a high level of skill in design thinking and presentation media required.

  • LEED accreditation preferred.

You will be successful because you already know how to translate an architect's sketches and documents into realized 2D/3D models and images, and can research artistic and/or technical issues when they arise. What You Will Do * Design and plan complex architectural projects of varying types * Manage multiple aspects of client, project coordination, and general contractors including full documentation coordination with structural, MEP, lighting, AV, landscape and civil consultants * Manage client relationships and team communication * Resolve complex technical and design issues * Maintain the project manual and specifications * Conduct on-site observations and document site reviews * Process submittals, RFIs, substitution requests, etc. during construction * Interface with building and permitting officials during the permitting and construction phases of the project Your Qualifications * Advanced degree in Architecture or Design preferred, with a rigorous design education * 10-15 years of relevant architecture and design experience, with a strong background designing multiple building typologies of varying scale, including core and shell buildings * International design experience a plus * Proficiency in Revit, Rhino, Grasshopper, and 3ds Max * Excellent analytical and problem solving skills * Outstanding graphic presentation skills * Ability to develop collaborative relationships across the firm, with clients, and with other key constituents * Proven ability to lead and direct design teams and projects * Conceptual designer and thinker * Demonstrated expertise in sustainable building practices and/or office leadership in sustainable building practices experience preferred For consideration, please submit resume and portfolio in PDF format.
