Responsibilities

What you'll be challenged to do:

TranSystems is seeking an Architect to work with and coordinate with project teams in preparation of design and construction documents for wide range of transportation project types in aviation, rail, transit, and federal government sectors. This position is based out of our Berkeley, California office.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Participate in all project phases, from initial conceptual design to construction administration

  • Perform design and technical tasks requiring application of architectural techniques and knowledge

  • Coordinate with other design disciplines during design and construction document phases

  • Conduct research and prepare studies and reports

  • Modify or create construction documents, including drawings and technical specifications

  • Prepare graphic presentations and 3-D renderings

  • Attend on-site visits, field reviews and construction progress meetings as appropriate

  • Participate in team meetings to discuss design and technical issues and coordinate with other design disciplines

  • Work with architectural staff under direction of Senior Architect

  • Develop understanding of basic accounting principles, project budget management

Qualifications

What you bring to our firm:

  • Accredited degree in Architecture

  • Registered as an Architect

  • Minimum five years of relevant experience

  • Proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.)

  • Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD

  • Knowledge of sustainability and integrated design strategies

  • Knowledge of relevant building codes and accessibility requirements

  • Ability to communicate in a clear, concise, and professional manner, both verbally and in writing

  • Actively engages multiple perspectives when solving problems, seeks to learn from peers, and encourages reciprocal learning among team members.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include ability to adjust focus.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, however, construction and field assignments can be severe (i.e. Airport noise, inside factories, construction equipment, jack hammers, etc).

For individuals assigned and/or hired to work in California, Colorado, or NY City, TranSystems is required by law to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This compensation range is specific to the State of California and takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; internal peer equity; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At TranSystems, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $90,000-$120,000 annually.
