Job Description:

Thomson Reuters is looking for a seasoned platform Architect who has experience building new platform services from scratch, as well as the ability to effectively refactor and integrate existing applications/services.The candidate should have exceptional communication and negotiation skills, combined with experience guiding software and quality engineers analysts in implementing production quality solutions. The Software Architect will be a thought-leader, with real-world business common sense, the ability to communicate clearly and collaborate across functions.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Define and extend a robust architecture for building new platform services in the Corporates domain, leveraging and enhancing existing building blocks or creating new reusable components

  • Define and Execute on our API and global cloud deployment strategies

  • Build early prototypes of product components/services and validate them for technical design and performance

  • Understand the long-term business objectives and suggest technical strategies to meet those objectives by introducing innovation through technology

  • Be an evangelist and strong communicator of the architectural blueprints of our product to mobilize the rest of the organization to build solutions that fit our customer's needs

  • Be responsive and decisive on adjusting our platform architecture as customer requirements, market conditions and technology evolve

  • Partner with others inside and outside the engineering organization to gather all requirements to formulate appropriate architecture required to provide system functionality, deciding when to advocate and when to compromise to arrive at a mutually acceptable solution

  • Work with the development team to translate the software architecture into design and be hands-on as needed

  • Work closely with product management, engineering, quality assurance, sales and professional services teams throughout the organization

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Experience and strong understanding of AWS/Azure and various core services offered

  • Comfortable in communicating architecture to all levels of management and customers

  • 10+ years' experience in hands-on development, application design in the delivery of software products

  • 3+ years in an architect role in previous large scale software development projects, preferably SaaS delivery model

  • Possessing skills in the following technology areas: .Net, Java, REST, Web Services, XML, XSL, HTML / DHTML, HTTP

  • Thorough understanding of relational database design, OLAP and good understanding of NoSQL models (SQL, MDX, etc.)

  • Hands-on experience with Microservices, Containers (Docker) is preferred

  • Four-year college degree or equivalent experience relevant to the job. Advanced degree (e.g. Masters in Computer Science) is preferred but not required

  • Excellent knowledge of software development methodologies and processes

  • Track record that includes the design and release of high quality, high performance enterprise software product / application

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, clients and prospects

  • Highly motivated with the ability to work on a multiple projects simultaneously

  • Strong analytical problem solving and decision making skills

  • Strong time management, organization, and prioritization skills

Job Description The System Architecture Engineer will lead architecture definition and system design of the embedded control and communications systems for the software organization. This important role in the Controls engineering group will align the technical direction of controls engineering product lines with roadmaps for Commercial platforms. It will also involve work to support LII's involvement with regulatory Committees pertaining to HVAC industry, including some travel. Responsibilities for this position include: * Partner with product management teams on the efficient use of technology in future multi-generation product lines and controls roadmaps. * Bridge the gap between business requirements and Controls engineering requirements for the organization. * Responsible for the definition of embedded communication protocols that satisfy technical system requirements, meet existing product guidelines and market regulations within cost and schedule constraints. * Actively investigate and study relevant technology and customer trends to anticipate customer and technical needs for the Controls technology platform. * Actively monitor and analyze industry regulatory requirements and translate them into technical specifications. * Create processes to enable requirement lifecycle management for both Foundation and User Facing components. * Partner with the advanced research group to develop and design future control architecture to support advanced algorithms. * Partner with functional managers to develop hardware and software system capabilities. * Collaborate with the Software and Hardware design teams to implement future controls for the residential, commercial and refrigeration product lines. * Develop innovative ideas and intellectual property to differentiate our control products. * Focus future plans towards allowing our controls to be easy to use, install, and configure while maintaining flexibility for future expansion. Qualifications Technical skills: * BS/MS in Computer, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science. * Minimum of 10 years of professional experience designing or developing software and embedded components in C/C++, Java and Assembly. * Minimum of 5 years of experience as a system engineer or technical leader in a software organization. * Experience with multi-site software development. * Experience in the architecture, design and development of embedded software. * Familiarity with the Refrigeration or HVAC industry is a plus. * Familiar with industry standard protocols (Modbus, BACnet, LONtalk, etc.) * Familiar with embedded and serial communications (I2C, RS-485, RS-232, CAN) * Proficient in networking communications (TCP/IP). * Experience with Real Time Operating Systems (RTOS) and other Operating Systems such as embedded Linux and Windows. * Familiar with industry standard embedded software design and debugging tools. * Familiar with industry standard Configuration Management tools. * Experience developing with Waterfall and Iterative Software development processes. * Familiarity with ODM/OEM product development and manufacturing for embedded electronics. * Familiarity with consumer facing product design and development.
