Overview

The Architect -Revit Designer assists in architectural projects by performing the following duties to support Walt Disney, Universal Sudios and Knotsberry Farm projects in our Pasadena Office.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performs assignments designed to continue to develop professional architectural work knowledge and abilities, requiring application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria in carrying out a sequence of related architectural tasks. Assignments will require moderate independent judgement and application of a routine, non-complex nature, under the supervision of a professional Architect. Assignments shall have clear and specified objectives with limited variables.

  • Performs design and calculation tasks based on standard architectural techniques and procedures. Applies standard practices, architectural fundamentals, and techniques in specific situations, adjusts and correlates data, and follows design through a series of related detailed steps or processes.

  • Performs design of routine non-complex projects and portions of routine complex projects with limited responsibility under direction of Project Architect, or other responsible staff member.

  • Prepares reports, specifications, plans, construction schedules, cost estimates and permits for projects, under the direction of Project Architect or other responsible staff member.

  • Performs computer aided design drafting to produce designs into routine final drawings.

  • Research discipline-related code issues and present interpretation.

  • Visits construction site to review, monitor, and report progress and perform other construction administration duties per the contract documents.

  • Uses company and discipline department computer assisted drafting and design software and equipment to prepare architectural reports and design documents. Must be proficient in the use of personal computers.

  • Instructs draftspersons and architectural designers to produce designs into working drawings

  • Perform checking of one's own work and work prepared by drafters and architectural designers.

  • Provide coordination of all applicable project discipline's drawings and specifications.

  • Assist in client contact and communication pertaining to specific projects.

  • Promote communications, cooperation and quality among staff.

Must be proficient in the use of:

  • Microsoft Windows, Excel, Project, and Word

  • AutoCAD, Revit

  • Miscellaneous department product/system selection and sizing software.

  • Knowledge of the latest computer software for architectural renderings and building energy analysis.

  • Basic knowledge of sustainable/green strategies

  • Responsible for job specific standards, practices and quality as defined in BRPH Systems Manuals.

Qualifications

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's degree in architecture from an accredited four-year college or university, and minimum of two years' experience in architecture.

Must be a U.S Citizen

We need our Designers at this level to complete the most complex and difficult designs and layouts for complete systems and components of a project. In this role, you will start out completing simple routine drafting/design assignments. These may include tracing, markups, charts, tables, simple drawings to scale, freehand lettering, line work, and stacking tolerances for purposes of orientation and training. You will utilize samples, instruction, and established standards as a guide in transferring design information from market prints and sketches to preliminary or final drawings. You will also complete simple loop and logic diagrams using a CAD workstation. As you develop in this role, you will be involved with increasingly more detailed assignments. Keys to your success will be your willingness to learn, work in a team, and ability to develop your CAD skills. Responsibilities: * Utilizes a CAD workstation to prepare engineering drawings consisting of basic arrangements, layouts, flow sheets, assemblies, isometrics, etc., from rough sketches and/or from general engineering and design information according to established standards and procedures. * Utilizes technical manuals and directives to ensure compliance with codes and company policies. Becomes familiar with various standards and codes such as ANSI, PFI, and NFPA. * Compiles data and performs dimensional and routine calculations required for the preparation of drawings. Understands how to read orthographic (2D) and/or isometric (3D) designs and supplier/manufacturer drawings. * Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate. Qualifications: * High School Diploma * 0+ years of design/draft experience * Some drafting and related course work including basic mathematics * Basic electrical coursework required * Pursuit of EIT/FE credentials preferred * Basic PC skills and fundamentals of CAD are required. * U.S. citizens ONLY due to government or federal requirement.
