Job Summary

Black & Veatch is expanding and is looking to add another Architect to the existing Architectural Group in the Kansas City Power Division. The Architectural team is responsible for designing and supporting a variety of projects teams with the addition of buildings and structures at Power Plants, Power Delivery and Oil and Gas projects both domestically and internationally. The current position is for a lead Architect that can support all the Architectural requirements for the project.

Key Responsibilities

  • Continues to learn and remains current on departmental design guides, standards, systems, applicable codes and Black and Veatch policies and procedures

  • Plans, coordinates and reviews all project architectural design criteria technical information and construction documentation.

  • Plans and conducts conferences with clients, project personnel, vendors and contractors as required to complete the appointed facility scope.

  • Prepares the necessary complex architectural deliverables.

  • Coordinates the selection of finish materials and colors for final recommendation.

  • Performs Life Safety Code Reviews.

  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with Black & Veatch quality requirements.

  • Plans and conducts independent evaluation, selection and adaptation of architectural techniques, procedures and criteria.

  • Manage projects Architectural personal and budget expenditures.

  • Provides guidance to the Architectural Tech's regarding the generation of the interior space design/layouts and building appearance.

  • Review and assists lower level architectural work.

  • Supports continuous business improvement efforts, including updating standard specifications and department standards and guides, as assigned to ensure documentation is always current.

Management Responsibilities

Minimum Qualifications

Requires a bachelor's degree in architecture from an NAAB or a recognized accredited program in their home country or the country in which the professional is practicing. Typically a minimum of 5 years related work experience. All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 7 years of Industrial Architecture experience.

  • NCARB Certificate.

  • Willingness to work in a dynamic team environment.

Certifications

Most positions - depending on the nature of work performed as defined by the division - will typically require incumbents to have professional registration or licensure in their designated home office country, or be in active pursuit* of such registration
