Job Description:

Molina is accelerating a transition to a more reactive and elastic IT, taking advantage of cloud-based subscriptions and services. In support of this transition, application integration mechanisms are being re-architected, with a larger emphasis placed on APIs.

Molina is looking for an Application Integration architect to the drive the organizational adoption and to support the migration to an API aware architecture, in IaaS, PaaS and SaaS environments.

The Application Integration Architect joins a team composed of architects who work in a collaborative and supportive group with our internal and external IT partners.

The Application Integration Architect contributes to the definition of Molina's Enterprise Architecture as a subject matter expert, and exercises Architecture leadership during the design, implementation, preparation for operations and documentation of the integration solution, ensuring that Molina's Enterprise Architecture standards and practices are followed.

  • Work in conjunction with the EA team on architecture vision and roadmap

  • Create key deliverables describing current and future state

  • Provide forward-thinking technology leadership in developing innovative integration solutions with a strong emphasis on agility and security

  • Provide governance for the integration of existing systems with newly acquired SaaS solutions

  • Provides architecture leadership during the design, build and transition to operations of the integration solutions

  • Contributes to the architecture development process and ensures that the solutions to be implemented solutions are properly reviewed and documented.

  • Guide development teams and oversee the effective solutioning and deployment of the API platform

  • Mentor junior technology team members in best practices, technical options, and expediting technical solutions.

  • Document and communicate complex concepts effectively to a diverse group of stakeholders.


  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent work experience

  • 3 years' experience designing, developing, implementing and operating application integration solutions in environments of significant complexity.

  • Understanding of Continuous Delivery and DevOps principles and techniques such as Blue/Green deployments, rolling deployments, etc. and experience implementing them in a cloud environment

  • Previous experience aligning technology roadmaps with business goals and initiatives.

  • Proven ability to develop great relationships with co-workers, credibility with leadership, and rapport for getting things done with stakeholders.

  • Experience selecting technology solutions that meet requirements, are cost-conscious, and align with Molina's technology goals and roadmap.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Excellent problem-solving skills

  • Highly motivated, with a demonstrated passion for excellence and taking initiative

  • Strong work ethic, willing to do what it takes to get the job done right the first time

Required Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in relevant field

Required Experience

  • 2 years of hands-on technical implementation experience in IT Enterprise environments.
  • 3-4 years of IT technical experience with IT enterprise infrastructure.

Preferred Education

  • Graduate Degree

The job The Provider Integration Business Consultant will play a key role in the continued rapid growth of the company, with a specific focus on successful delivery of projects owned by the Chief Medical Officer and other strategic business partners (e.g., Health Care Services, Pharmacy, IT, Network Management, etc.). This position is responsible for supporting the oversight of and managing the definition and implementation of initiatives jointly pursued by SCAN and key provider delivery systems to improve the delivery of care; improve quality (e.g., Stars measures); enhance the physician experience alongside member experience; and drive toward operational/administrative efficiencies. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who has experience in delivering program management leadership / oversight of business transformational initiatives within a highly-matrixed health care organization as well as experience in delivering data-driven insights to identify improvement opportunities and/or inform decision-making. This individual will also be experienced in driving and executing activities in support of such program efforts (e.g., business process analysis and redesign; requirements gathering; issue root cause analysis and resolution, etc.) You will * Perform activities and related tasks to support the definition, pursuit and implementation of integration pilot projects, working cross-functionally with other departments at SCAN and externally with the appropriate provider management team counterparts. * Manage the delivery of SCAN's overall Provider Integration program work plan which consists of activities related to governance, initiative portfolio management, and the planning and execution of prioritized initiatives. This includes the management of interrelated projects to ensure alignment with the goals and objectives of the program. * Responsible for facilitating and/or executing the process to plan for and complete activities related to the design and implementation of prioritized initiatives. Such activities can include business process analysis (e.g., current state process work flow documentation; future state process redesign; risk/issue root cause analysis); business requirements gathering, use case / test case development (to support IT system implementations); and development and maintenance of project management tools (e.g., creation of status reports, maintenance of risks/issues/decisions logs, etc.) * Lead/support the analysis, review of and reporting on key provider performance data to make clear recommendations to management for the pursuit and implementation of strategic pilot projects. Such efforts will require partnering cross-functionally at SCAN and externally with the appropriate provider group counterparts. * Support the process to plan / prepare for and conduct Provider Integration Steering Committees (external-facing), including but not limited to agenda development; drafting of supporting presentation content; quantitative and qualitative data analysis; and management of the end-to-end development / execution timeline. * Facilitate the execution of projects by managing the work of the project resources (internal and/or external) in a matrixed environment. Ensures project team(s) is actively participating, collaborating and coordinating amongst team members as well as with other projects and/or business operations, IT (and other Shared Services departments) and analytics-focused teams. * Support the monitoring of all aspects of the project, in alignment with the overall program, by measuring progress and identifying appropriate points to correct course when project goes beyond scope or is not meeting goals and objectives. Ensures project remains on timeline by managing schedules and resources and removing barriers. Work with project team, sponsors and/or Sr. Director, Provider Integration to negotiate changes such as scope, timeline, deliverables and integration points. * Work with project / initiative stakeholders to develop content for and distribute project status reports including: key accomplishments, dashboards, risks, issues, action items, upcoming activities, deliverable examples, etc. * Work with project stakeholders to onboard and off-board project resources (both internal and external). Manage the day to day components of third-party vendor oversight that are associated with projects requiring such external support. * Manage program risk (at the department and/or initiative-level) by identifying, planning for, developing and implementing strategies to mitigate or minimize risks and monitor findings, within associated projects. Appropriately escalate risks and/or issues to Sr. Director, Provider Integration as needed. Facilitate or assist with conflict resolution within project team. * Confer with project team(s) to provide guidance and resolve problems. Your qualifications * Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent work experience required). * Graduate level degree in health care or business administration preferred. * Proficient understanding of the health care industry, preferably within the health insurance / payer and/or health care provider / delivery sector(s); prefer at least 3-5 years of experience working within healthcare industry in the context of business process transformation / improvement; quality (Stars measures) improvement / management; and/or core admin system implementations. * Intermediate to advanced understanding of program management within a health care setting, with a minimum of 5 combined years of work experience in leading and/or owning multiple work streams of complex, cross-functional initiatives/projects. * 2-4 years of business/management consulting or equivalent experience. * Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills and experience in group motivation skills. * Moderate to strong skills in quantitative analysis, qualitative analysis, and problem-solving. * Moderate to strong skills in data analytics including but not limited to performing analysis, presenting results in a clear, understandable view (data visualization) and facilitating the interpretation of such results as presented. * Strong verbal and written communication skills required; with experience in formal presentations, ability to appropriately and effectively address diverse audiences and ability to effectively facilitate group interactions. * Experience with collecting requirements and analyzing inter/intra-departmental processes. * Proven self-starter, excellent organizational characteristics, quality minded; able to work independently and with limited supervision. * Intermediate to advanced proficiency required in MS Office products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Project. * Adapts to changes in priorities and assignments quickly and efficiently and is flexible with project assignments.
