Epsilon Systems Solutions, Inc. has a job opportunity for an Full-Time exempt Archaeologist I. Most of the work will be performed in Barstow, CA.

Summary:
Conduct archaeological monitoring, survey, testing, and data recovery. Conduct research to reconstruct record of past human life and culture from human remains, artifacts, architectural features, and structures recovered through excavation, underwater recovery, or other means of discovery. Non-supervisory. May oversee the day to day work of Archaeological Technicians/Crew members.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assists senior archaeologists in conducting archaeological and historical site record searches.

  • Performs archival research, field surveys, site mapping, preparing California DPR-523 site forms.

  • Assists in writing reports that record site history, methodology, and artifact analysis results, along with recommendations for conserving and interpreting findings.

  • Studies objects and structures recovered by excavation to identify, date, and authenticate them and to interpret their significance.

  • Consults site reports, existing artifacts, and topographic maps to identify archeological sites.

  • Records the exact locations and conditions of artifacts uncovered in diggings or surveys, using drawings and photographs as necessary.

  • Creates a grid of sites and draw and update maps of unit profiles, stratum surfaces, features, and findings.

  • Describes artifacts' physical properties or attributes, such as the materials from which artifacts are made and their size, shape, functions, and decoration.

  • Conducts archaeological monitoring, survey, testing and data recovery;

  • Contributes to team efforts during cultural resources field and lab work;

  • Takes initiative, resolving problems, and creating improved procedures to assure tasks are completed in the most effective manner;

  • Assists with mapping responsibilities in the field, including collection of GPS data using Trimble units (knowledge of ArcPad is a plus)

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelors Degree in Anthropology (or related field) and experience in field of archaeology.

  • Minimum 1-year experience in archeology/Cultural Resources Management.

  • Must have a valid driver's license.

  • Must be able to obtain access to military and other government facilities

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Secretary of Interior Standards Professional Qualification Standards Certificate

ADA Notations:

  • Some sedentary work is performed in an office setting. Outdoors. Rugged to extremely rugged terrain in extreme temperature ranges, often in uninhabited areas.

  • Must be able to walk 8-10 miles a day with field pack and ample water, over rough terrain in variable weather conditions which likely will include high temperatures in summer months.

  • A portion of the duties require working outdoors under extreme temperature, strenuous physical effort associated with hiking during archaeological reconnaissance and surveys, such as climbing steep slopes, and physical labor such as stooping, bending, carrying loads in excess of 50 pounds associated with archaeological excavation work.

Position Overview Develops layouts for components and systems and selects material. Prepares design drawings, calculations, and bills of material from engineering documents associated with the planning, design, construction, operation, and maintenance of the Company's distribution system, and telecommunication system. Performs routine to moderately complex design assignments within a specific engineering discipline. Works closely with Planners and may provide functional direction to support staff. Provides information and makes recommendations having minor impact to the project. Typical Responsibilities may include: * Prepares scaled work order maps using computer aided design software (CAD) such as Autodesk Utility Design (AUD) and Design Manager (DM). * Draws map(s) using the correct mapping symbols, call-outs, decals, proper tie downs, etc. * Checks Planner's redlines for accuracy and completeness prior to completing the drafting/drawing. * Completes engineering functions and calculations based on field information and redline from Planner (i.e., cable pulling, voltage drop, flicker, utilizing station sheets, etc.). * Inputs pole loading information in SPIDA software based on field information and redlines from Planner. * Prepares joint pole authorizations based on field information and redline from Planner. * Inputs customer, project, and billing information (i.e., completes faceplate, verifies allowances, updates labor requirements). * Consult with Planners and other planning personnel to prepare design drawings and modifications as required. * Create and maintain a safety conscious work environment by leading and influencing others to follow Edison safety protocols and safe work practices. * Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Minimum Qualifications * AutoCAD certificate from a school accredited by the US Department of Education or an Associate's degree (A. S.) in AutoCAD. * Two or more years of experience providing support in any of the following fields: Drafting/Designing, Mapping, or electrical distribution planning. Desired Qualifications * Drafting and designing practices in CAD for electric utility, electrical distribution design, engineering design, or construction work preferred. * Handling multiple assignments concurrently, adjusting shifting priorities, and meeting deadlines. * Experience working with customers, identifying customer needs, and resolving customer issues. * Reviewing rough sketches, drawings specifications, and creating conceptual drawings in computer aided design software. * Finalizing engineering product drawings with critical dimensions, performance specifications, and quality specifications to be in compliance with design standards and procedures. * Conducting quality review on designs, checks for inaccuracies, omissions, or compliance issues and providing recommendations. * Able to drive, traverse on uneven surfaces, occasionally lift up to 40 lbs., sit/stand for extended periods of time, work in various weather conditions, and possibly be in remote regions (coast, desert, and mountain) for extended periods of time. * Ability to integrate work across relevant areas, manage information, and provide exceptional service to internal and external customers.
