We are seeking an full-time Outdoor Enthusiast (Arborist; tree pruner/climber) to join our St. Louis team! We are looking for that special person who is not afraid to make things happen from getting started with a pruning job to showing the neighbor how much Ryan's forestry or turf department could make their property a more beautiful place. This person is one in a thousand. Are you that person? At Ryan, you will:

  • Learn and understand the Company culture

  • Successfully complete on-the-job training as outlined for each division; forestry (pruning and spraying), and turf care.

  • Perform the duties of specific jobs in the field, in order to both facilitate learning as well as support business needs

  • Attend/Participate in assigned training and development courses

  • Lead and/or participate in projects as assigned (show you can both give and take directions)

  • Perform all assigned responsibilities according to established safety and security policies, guidelines and legal regulations

  • and, most of us, lead us in sales and growing our customer base by networking, building relationships with green industry partners and the community!

This is a physical, outdoor job.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk, stand, use hands/arms, while working 10-12 hour days (50-60 hours / week) in peak seasons.

  • You are occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; must regularly lift and /or move up to 80 pounds and regularly exposed to chemicals, outside weather conditions (wet, cold, hot and/or humid).

  • College degree preferred however we will train you to do the work you will learn to love

  • You must have a good sense of who you are, humble, but highly motivated. We say, hungry, humble and smart

  • A degree in horticulture or forestry is ideal, but again, not necessary as you can learn both on the job

  • Looking for someone who is competitive, hard working, and an excellent communicator

VIEW JOBS 1/15/2019 12:00:00 AM 2019-04-15T00:00 Summary The Placemaking Planner is focused on creating vibrant, attractive, safe and comfortable spaces across the Metro transit system that are integrated into the fabric of communities across the St. Louis Metropolitan region. This position is responsible for the planning and design of Metro's transit infrastructure, including bus stops, transit centers and MetroLink Stations, and their interface with surrounding neighborhoods and communities. Duties and Responsibilities * Coordinates customer-focused investments in transit facilities: * Identifies opportunities that will support the goals of short and long-range planning initiatives, including Metro ReImagined. * Pursues project funding through competitive grant applications, partnership opportunities, and Metro's local and federal formula funding sources. * Collaborates with Metro staff in Planning, Engineering, MetroLink and MetroBus Support Services and Arts in Transit to plan and deliver capital enhancement projects including bus stops, transfer centers, and other service-related programs. * Engages key stakeholders and Metro Staff to identify opportunities to enhance the Metro transit system through projects and partnerships. * Integrates sustainability principles including green infrastructure, storm water management, etc. into Metro projects. * Collaborates with Metro Public Safety and external partners to ensure that crime prevention through environmental design (CPTED) principles are integrated into Metro facilities. * Leads Metro's passenger amenities program: * Creates standards for the "bus stop zone" and work with Service Planning to create stop typologies based on ridership, location and stop placement. * Develops and oversees a program for the deployment of passenger amenities such as benches, shelters and signage across the Metro transit system. * Develops a menu of investment options, including funding mechanisms that include a local match option. * Leads the implementation of signage and wayfinding projects. * Interfaces with land use planning: * Works alongside Bi-State Development's Economic Development team and external partners to realize opportunities for transit-supportive infrastructure and transit-oriented development (TOD) Required Skills Urban Planning- Must have background including educational and professional experience working in urban design, architecture, transportation or land-use planning. Communications Skills- Must communicate effectively and confidently orally and in writing. Must be comfortable interacting with a wide range of audiences including the public, peers, Agency management, and political officials. Technical Skills- Demonstrated experience utilizing geographic information systems (GIS). Required Experience * 3- 5+ years in a similar role directly related preferably in the field of Urban Planning, Architecture, Urban Design, Transit Planning or Engineering. * B.A. / B.S. in Urban Planning, Architecture, Urban Design, Geography, Civil, Transportation Engineering or related field.
