Aquatics Supervisor

Requirements

MOS Codes: None

Education and Experience: An Associate's degree or higher in recreation management, physical education or related field, and two (2) years aquatics recreation experience.

Licenses and Certificates: Texas Class "C" Driver's License or equivalent from another state.

Red Cross Lifeguard Training Certificate or YMCA Lifeguard Certificate or National Pool Water Park Lifeguard Certificate and Water Safety Instructor by the time of appointment.

Must obtain a Water Safety Instructor Trainer Certificate and Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor Trainer Certificate including Community First Aid and Safety within one year of appointment.

General Purpose

Under general supervision, supervise and coordinate the programs for assigned aquatic facilities.

Typical Duties

Oversee and monitor programs of indoor and outdoor aquatic facilities. Involves: Prepare or assist in the preparation of opening and closing of aquatic facilities for the season.

Planning of programming, personnel and facilities. Direct and review preparation of program reports. Conduct on-site visits to ensure compliance with established procedures and applicable laws and ordinances.

Review and approve facility and programs. Respond to facility needs as required. Prepare lesson plans for Learn to Swim and other aquatics programs.

Supervise assigned staff. Involves: Schedule, assign, instruct, guide and check work.

Appraise employee performance. Provide for training and development. Enforce personnel rules and regulations and work behavior standards firmly and impartially.

Counsel, motivate and maintain harmony. Interview applicants. Recommend hiring, termination, transfers, discipline, merit pay or other employee status changes.
