Aquatics Cashier

Responsible for assisting with the effective and safe daily operations of an admission-based swimming facility. Position will be responsible for POS register operation, following the City of Raleigh cash handling procedures, balancing daily revenues, assisting in answering the telephone, handling guest requests and comments, handling admissions, memberships sales, and program registrations through several computer applications. Cashier must be able to retain information about site amenities, fees, and directions to meet the needs and questions of park patrons and perform general duties as required. Position involves physical movement, working in an indoor and outdoor setting in all types of weather.

Work Hours and Location:

This position works a combination of night, weekend, and occasional city holiday shifts with flexibility required.   This position may be asked to work at other City of Raleigh Aquatic facilities as needed.

• Be responsible for handling admission fees, memberships, and program registrations.

• Be responsible for completing front desk operations including daily balance of all revenue and all daily & weekly paperwork.

• May assist in the training of new cashier employees.

• Exhibit excellent customer service to the public.

• Be familiar with and enforce the facility guidelines, policies, and practices.

• Be familiar with the facility layout and aquatic program information.

• Clean and maintain the cashier work area and lobby.

• Properly handle and maintain paperwork.

• Attend/Complete all required City training.

• Abide by the City cash handling procedures and guidelines.

• Responsible for additional similar or like duties as assigned.

Applicants for this position should be well-rounded, organized, self-starters. Must be enthusiastic about working with all populations, display personal maturity, have great communication and customer service skills, and have confidence in dealing with conflict resolution. Ability to speak, write, etc. in English fluently. Bilingual ability is helpful but not required. Reliable transportation is required. Work shifts fall within varying seasonal hours throughout the year which requires applicant to work flexible hours. Facilities operate Monday to Sunday, including Holidays. Applicants must be at least 16 years of age. Prior experience working in a recreation facility and/or setting is preferred.

Applicants will reflect the ability to effectively work as part of a team in a fast-paced active recreational setting. Applicants will demonstrate a concern for and awareness of all established safety protocols, for themselves, their colleagues, and the public. Applicants must be able to demonstrate skills in cash handling, computer applications; POS register operation, and complete basic math calculations for filling out deposits, timecards and other paperwork. Applicants must be able to follow written and verbal directions, work independently and as a team, and be able to communicate clearly both verbally and written.

Positions of this class typically require stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions. This position requires full use of arms and legs to operate equipment, climb stairs, and assist with emergencies.

This position involves independent physical movement and works in both indoor and outdoor settings in all types of weather. This role requires a significant amount of time in a guest facing environment.
