Cleveland Clinic is currently seeking an experienced Acute Care Nurse Practitioner for a full time APRN PA Coordinator for the Regional Critical Care House Officer Team. The successful applicant will have administrative duties, with a clinical expectation of floating to all hospitals the house officer team serves as needed. This coordinator will oversee the Advanced Practice Registered Nurse/Physician Assistant function at the institution of practice. May assist administration with scheduling, and review of APRN/PA duties and responsible for ensuring appropriate utilization of APRN/PA's throughout the organization. Functions as an APRN/PA in collaboration with a Physician. MINIMUM ONE YEAR ACUTE CARE NP EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED, WITH PREVIOUS SUPERVISORY EXPERIENCE PREFERRED. NEW GRADUATES WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION.
THE COVERAGE WILL BE 24/7 TO INCLUDE DAY AND NIGHT SHIFTS.
THE COVERAGE WILL BE FOR ALL SERVICES, AND DUTIES WILL INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
URGENT PATIENT MANAGEMENT PROCEDURES (AIRWAY, CENTRAL LINES, A-LINES, CHEST TUBES AND OTHER PROCEDURES
CRITICAL ASSESSMENT OF PATIENTS AS REQUIRED
CONTINUAL COMMUNICATION WITH OTHER PROVIDERS INVOLVED WITH THE ADMITTED PATIENTS CARE
AND OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES AS NEEDED
ALL HIRES WILL GO THROUGH AN IN-DEPTH 3-4 MONTH FULLY PAID TRAINING BEFORE BEGINNING THEIR DUTIES AT EACH HOSPITAL. SCHEDULE WILL BE 13 SHIFTS PER MONTH AND WILL INCLUDE ROTATING NIGHTS, WEEKENDS AND HOLIDAYS.
THE APPROPRIATE CANDIDATE WILL HAVE A QUEST FOR AUTONOMOUS PRACTICE, WORKING AT TOP OF LICENSURE, AND A DESIRE TO BE AN INTEGRAL PART OF A COMMUNITY HOSPITAL SYSTEM. AS A HOUSE OFFICER, CAREGIVERS WILL LOOK TO YOU AS THE RESPONDER TO THEIR NEEDS FOR WHOLE HOSPITAL PATIENT CARE.
CARE DELIVERED FROM THE CRITICAL CARE HOUSE OFFICER IS RAPID, SHORT TERM AND CONCISE TO ALLEVIATE AN IMMEDIATE ISSUE WITH THE HOSPITALIZED PATIENT. HAND OFFS WILL OCCUR CONTINUALLY TO THE STAFF AND SERVICE OF WHICH THE PATIENT IS ADMITTED. TO THAT END, EXCELLENT COMMUNICATION SKILLS WILL BE PARAMOUNT.
NOT TO BE CONFUSED WITH A HOSPITALIST ROLE, THE HOUSE OFFICER WILL OVER-SEE THE CARE OF ALL ADMITTED PATIENTS WITHIN THE REGIONAL HOSPITAL. ALL SERVICES CAN AND WILL CALL FOR ASSISTANCE FROM THE HOUSE OFFICER.

Oversees APRN/PA's practice within the department/hospital/institute.
With the supervision of the Administration, assists with the hiring, orientation, reviewing, scheduling, supervising and training of APRN/PA's.
Schedules and assigns Advanced Practice Registered Nurses/Physician Assistants to maintain appropriate staffing and coverage.
Develops and implements competencies for Advanced Practice Registered Nurses/Physician Assistants (with assistance from the APRN/PA Directors).
Attends assigned meetings.
Communicates any new or updated information from Administration.
Conducts thorough medical histories, performs complete physical examinations based upon the age and patient history as per the Standard Care Arrangement with a collaborating physician.
Identifies significant health and medical risk factors.
Orders, interprets and evaluates laboratory test and other diagnostic studies to assess patient's clinical problems and health care needs.
Develops a diagnosis by analyzing and synthesizing collected data.
In collaboration with the physician, develops a treatment plan along with the patient and significant others.
Performs diagnostic or therapeutic interventions consistent with certification, law and Cleveland Clinic privileges.
Prescribes and monitors medications as allowed by prescriptive authority through the applicable state Board of Nursing and CCF policy.
Educates patients regarding their disease, treatments, related drug and treatment side effects and hazards.
Performs routine procedures such as injections, immunizations, suturing and wound care, managing simple conditions produced by infection or trauma, assisting in the management of more complex illness and injury which may include assisting surgeons in conducting operations and taking initiative in performing evaluation and therapeutic procedures in response to life-threatening situations, as privileged by CCF Credentialing Board.
Performs specialized procedures as per delineation of privilege.
Other duties as assigned.
PA: Graduate of an A.R.C.-approved Physician Assistant Program.
Master's degree in Physician Assistant Studies and/or applicable state licensure through the State Medical Board for certificate to practice.
APRN: Effective 05/01/2014: MSN required upon hire or within 5 years of hire for external hires and internal hires moving from a non-APRN licensed role to an APRN licensed role.
Applicable state licensed through the State Medical Board for certificate to practice.
Licensure in the State of practice.
Prescriptive authority or eligible to apply for licensure to prescribe from the State Medical Board within the first 6 months of hiring.
If employee has held a license to prescribe within another jurisdiction and needs to obtain a Master's degree in order to apply for CT prescribe from applicable state, the candidate will be subject for review for eligibility for hiring within our system.
APRN: Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association (AHA) required upon hire.
PA: Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association (AHA) required within 6 months of hire.
For Homecare and Hospice field staff only, must have valid Ohio Driver's license upon hire; per policy 8-175 thereafter.
For Homecare and Hospice field staff only, must have proof of automobile insurance coverage with $100,000/$300,000 coverage, upon hire; per policy 8-175 thereafter.

Demonstrated competency and the ability to perform advanced assessment, diagnosis, treatment plan development, and invasive procedures as per clinical privileges.
Ability to interact effectively with all members of the Institute/department/hospital and other Cleveland Clinic employees at all levels.
Strong planning and organizational skills.
Working knowledge of computers and data base programs.
Minimum one year clinical experience with previous supervisory experience preferred.
Demonstrates superior knowledge and expertise in the area of specialization.
Ability to stand for long periods of time.
Requires extensive walking, sitting and stair climbing.
Manual and finger dexterity and eye/hand coordination to perform physical examinations.
Requires normal or corrected vision and hearing to a normal range.
Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 50 pounds.
May require exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids
