Works under general supervision. Typically reports to a project leader or manager. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required.-SYSTEMS ANALYST POSITION FOR OIS-RETAIL PARTIAL CONNECT INSTALLATIONS

This position provides IT support for the installation and maintenance of the Ordnance Information System (OIS) Retail Partial Connect hardware and software applications on specific Department of the Navy Atlantic and Pacific Fleet ships.

The applicant should have experience with:

  • "Conventional" Ordnance Inventory Control Point processes and OIS interaction.

  • Navy IT networks and technologies, including COMPOSE 4.0 and CANES.

  • OIS supported functional capabilities for OIS-Retail Partial Connect Installations

  • OIS system testing events and execution of those test events.

  • Naval ordnance inventory management.

  • OIS data element definitions and metadata

The applicant will be responsible for the OIS Partial Connect performance during and after ship installations. Responsibilities include, but not limited to the active measurement of OIS performance indices, identifying issues and taking corrective action to resolve using tools deployed for this requirement.

The applicant should be able to determine from a functional standpoint that all modules and the OIS Partial Connect system as a whole performs as detailed in the Program Specification or other OIS software documentation. The applicant should be able to report system accuracy, software validity and the system conformance to the OIS functional requirements. This includes, but is not limited to, verification and validation of response time to queries and updates, verification of system outputs, sequential relationships of functions, priorities imposed by types of inputs, changes and modes of operation, data input error checking and deviations from specified response times.

The applicant will be responsible for the OIS Partial Connect Installation tasks/services in managing and supporting OIS Partial Connect application/capabilities, to include but not limited to planning and evaluating, physical reconfigurations, installation/integration of software, testing and diagnostics, monitoring and controlling performance, assisting with OIS Partial Connect Software debugging, on-site Ship service center support, Ship end-user support. Ongoing engineering and quality assurance testing, maintenance, and enhancement actions on existing OIS Partial Connect Installations will be performed. The applicant should be knowledgeable and maintain an awareness of Navy Ammunition Processes.

Educational Requirements:

Associate's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business Management, or other related technical discipline and nine years specialized experience and twelve years of general experience. Alternatively, a High School diploma and ten years of specialized experience and thirteen years of general experience is acceptable.

Work is performed at OIS offices in NOB Norfolk, VA
