Position Summary

The Maintenance Mechanic Apprenticeship is an entry level, hourly position within the Wine & Spirits Division as part of the Rotational Development Program (RDP). The RDP Program prepares the Apprentice to advance to a Maintenance Mechanic I position in 18 months and includes learning fundamental skills of the position. The program includes classroom and hands-on experience-based learning focusing on craftsmanship, quality, and safety. The Apprentice learns basic mechanical work, troubleshooting, repair and preventative maintenance within bottling, winery operations equipment, retail and hospitality areas and vineyards.

Responsibilities

• Learn basic troubleshooting and equipment repair and the safe use of power and hand tools.

• Identify and report needed maintenance and facility repairs to the Maintenance Manager or Master Mechanics on their designated shift.

• Learn three of the trades at a base entry level with a willingness to develop and improve skills, including but not limited to: liquid and gas plumbing, rough carpentry, electrical repairs and troubleshooting, millwrights and pipe fitting, welding and fabrication, refrigeration and HVAC, and mechanical repairs.

• Cross train on multiple pieces of equipment in bottling, vineyard, and winery. Training will include on-the-job training as well as course work. Successful completion of course work is required as part of this apprenticeship. Rotating to 3 sites within the region is required to complete this training program, which will be located throughout the Napa-Sonoma region.

• Safety - follow safe operating procedures, support safety programs and policies to safeguard

personal safety, company property, environmental and team member's safety.

• Quality - follow quality procedures and policies to safeguard company product.

• Responsible for compliance with CWUS sustainability policies and practices which are economically viable, socially acceptable and environmentally sound. This is done by supporting programs at each location for conservation, energy efficiency, and recycling, which are critical for our operations to achieve tangible environmental results.

• Assist in material movement by operating various power industrial equipment, including but not limited to: forklifts, palletjacks, boom and scissorlifts, and company trucks/vehicles.

• Demonstrates good customer service, teamwork and cooperation, internal and external of the Maintenance Department.

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED

• 2-4 Years of winery, vineyard or bottling experience (need not be in maintenance to apply)

• Experience with hand or power tools and safe operation of them

• Must have basic math, reading and writing skills

• Must be able to climb ladders, work from heights and in small spaces and be physically agile to perform required work

• Must be able to recognize hazards.

• Must have good reasoning and troubleshooting skills

• Must have core facility, operations safety culture

• Must be able to operate vehicles and Valid CA Driver's License.

Physical Requirements/Work Environment

• Physical Requirements: The employee frequently is required to sit, talk or listen and drive long distances. The employee is occasionally required to stand; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and taste or smell. Frequent walking, including going up and down stairs and ladders, and bending are required. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

• Work Environment: Working conditions in certain areas of the winery are cold, wet, slippery and noisy. Involves exposure to hazardous conditions. Irregular shifts, including graveyard, and long hours may be required, particularly during harvest.

• Travel Required between Napa sites: 50%- 75%

• Travel to other CBI locations for training or offsite conferences: 5% - 10%.

• Off-hours shift coverage dependent on business needs

The salary range for this role is:

$23.24 - $34.86

This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. An employee's pay position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but limited to, the prevailing minimum wage for the location, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, any collective bargaining agreements, and business or organizational needs.
