About the role

The expected hourly rate for this position is $21.71.

Apprentice Engineer, reporting to either the Maintenance Supervisor or the Shift Supervisor will perform basic job functions such as grease equipment, replace light bulbs, assist Maintenance personnel, assist Auxiliary Engineer(s), assist Water Systems Operator(s), clean equipment, clean the Facility and perform other assignments as directed by the Maintenance/Operations Supervisor. The Apprentice Engineer will train for and perform Maintenance and Auxiliary Engineer job functions as his skill level increases and as directed.

The Apprentice Engineer will work independently on minor tasks, such as cleaning, and his independence will increase as his job knowledge increases. The Apprentice Engineer must attend Union required training classes and participate in company training programs.

Job Requirements:

A high school diploma. Applicants with Resource Recovery Facility experience will be given preference.

Interest, desire, and ability to learn plant operations for future promotion to Auxiliary Engineer position. Willing to work over time both scheduled and in response to unscheduled demand maintenance.
