Description
University Physicians' Association is looking for a full-time Appointment Scheduler for HIGH-RISK OB CONSULTANTS, our fast-paced practice located on the campus of UT Medical Center.
RESPONSIBLE AND ACCOUNTABLE FOR:
Scheduling of new and established patient appointments for multiple locations
Knowledge of specific insurance requirements
Complete information in the computer including patient demographics and detailed insurance data
Completing tasks timely, completely and correctly
Documents appropriate information in scheduling program
This position requires the employee to make every effort to remain a flexible, cooperative and supportive member of the staff; act as a liaison between other departments within the office; and maintain friendly open lines of communication
Performs all duties in an independent manner with minimal direction and supervision
Recognizes and performs duties which need to be performed, although not directly assigned
Present a friendly and positive attitude when answering phones
Forwarding of calls to appropriate team members/departments
Assist with medical records as needed
DUTIES AND TASKS INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
Keeps all patient information, practice information and staff information confidential
Performs routine work under general supervision
Follows established procedures, referring all new or unusual questions/concerns
Acts as patient advocate, ensuring a setting that protects the rights of the patient, in compliance with HIPAA, and provides an atmosphere that does not compromise the patient's physical or mental well-being, safety or dignity
Maintains knowledge of, and complies with, established policies and procedures

Requirements
Previous medical office experience including appointment scheduling and operation of multi-line telephone system
Good reading comprehension and ability to clearly communicate with patients and other facilities
Able to deal compassionately, professionally, and courteously with patients, their families, physicians and fellow staff
Bilingual in Spanish is a plus
