Summary
Kansas City Kansas Community College (KCKCC) is currently seeking to expand our applied music faculty to teach applied music lessons and other music courses as qualified at any KCKCC locations. Instruments needed include Flute, Clarinet, Oboe, Bassoon, Saxophone, Violin, Viola, Cello, French Horn, Euphonium, Tuba, and Organ.
Position Description
Hold all class sessions according to schedule
Provide instruction, activities, assignments, and assessments to meet the Music Department Student Learning Outcomes for the specific course(s) taught
Use teaching methods that emphasize application, cooperation and collaboration and engage students actively in their studies, encouraging them to become independent learners with higher-order thinking skills
Organize and explain content using methods which are appropriate to students with differing abilities, levels of preparation, and cultural experience
Assign and provide feedback for in- and out-of-class work; monitor student progress
Perform adequate assessment and analysis of assessment according to college requirements
Reflect on and evaluate the effectiveness of one's own pedagogy
Perform other duties as assigned by the appropriate supervisor
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Possess strong written and oral communication skills
Must demonstrate a commitment to and ability to work with a diverse student and faculty population
High energy, self-starter who can work with minimal supervision
Ability to develop and maintain excellent working relationships and establish credibility with all levels of employee in the organization.
Detail oriented
Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 applications, especially Word, Excel, and Outlook
Ability to manage several projects with multiple deadlines simultaneously
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Music, Music Education or similar field
Five (5+) plus years professional performance experience on primary instrument
Two (2) years teaching experience on primary instrument
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in Music, Music Education, or closely related field
Active and current professional performer on primary instrument
Three or more years teaching experience on primary instrument
Teaching experience in an open enrollment, urban community college
Experience with a Learning Management System such as Blackboard
Experience in learner-centered pedagogy
Experience with jazz, musical theatre, or other styles of American Popular Music

Work Schedule
Monday through Friday, 8:00AM- 4:30PM. Must be able to work a variable schedule/hour to meet operational needs. May require evening and weekend hours. Your appointment is contingent on sufficient enrollments, or on program and scheduling changes.
