We currently have an opening for an Applications Systems Analyst II.

This vacancy is open to current NCDIT employees only or previous NCDIT employees with unexpired RIF priority re-employment rights. Current temporary employees working for NCDIT will also be considered.

The primary responsibility of the Applications Systems Analyst is to develop and/or implement highly complex information technology solutions to enhance enterprise success. This position will provide business and technical support work involving analyzing, designing, and improving applications.

Duties include, but are not limited, to:

 • Independently manages project timelines, resources, and staff and leads implementation efforts.

 • Manages projects that require directing the work of others and with some latitude on actions or decisions.

 • Utilizes advanced skills to make technology modifications. Determines pro's and con's of implementing technical modifications.

 • Consults with clients to develop solutions using existing technologies.

 • Promotes positive customer relationships and mentors others to ensure customer satisfaction.

The primary purpose of Information Technology (IT) is to provide the full spectrum of information processing services and support for information resource management in the Department of Transportation (DOT). The primary purpose of the Engineering Applications Development Unit is to coordinate and direct the planning, development, or procurement, installation, and operation of information systems for the various Highway Division Branches and Units.

• Demonstrated experience in developing technical documentation and/or user guides

• Demonstrated experience of development using Visual Basic for Applications (VBA)

• Demonstrated experience with .NET and/or Java

• Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Access, Oracle, and/or SQL Server databases

• Demonstrated experience with transportation processes/procedures and engineering principles

Bachelor's degree in computer science or an IT related field or related technical degree from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of experience in business application consulting or development

OR

Associate degree in computer science or an IT related field from an appropriately accredited institution and three years of experience in application consulting or development

OR

High School or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and six years of experience in business application consulting or development; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
