As a JPMorgan Chase & Co. Application Support Engineer you will combine software and systems to help us build a world-class engineering function. Working with your team, you'll focus on improving our production applications and systems to creatively solve operations problems. Much of our support and software development focuses on optimizing existing systems, building infrastructure and eliminating work through automation. The Application Support Engineer within a Production Management team is responsible for technical support of production applications and infrastructure. This team provides support for Merchant Service Banking platforms.

General Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • Manage day to day issues including daily health checks of applications and processes, working closely with end users, development staff and Infrastructure teams, to prioritize and resolve and/or mitigate outages.

  • Monitor production activities/processes to ensure timely and effective reporting, tracking, follow-up and communication of problems to internal and external clients, technical resources, and executives.

  • Ensures information controls, back-up and recovery strategies are in place across all environments.

  • Implement continuous process improvement, including but not limited to policy, procedures, and production monitoring.

  • Develop and maintain relationships with technical staff, end users and clients.

  • Carefully evaluate alternative risks and solutions before taking action to provide timely resolution.

  • Demonstrate creativity, innovation and high performance.

  • Design, code, test and deliver software to automate manual operational work (Python, Java etc)

  • Engage with development teams throughout the life cycle to help develop software for reliability and scale, ensuring minimal refactoring or changes.

  • Design and implement self-healing and resiliency patterns.

  • Design and implement best in class monitoring frameworks to accomplish end-to-end flow monitoring and noiseless alerting (Dynatrace, Splunk etc)

  • Design and implement automated software and product upgrades, change management and release management solutions.

  • Expert practitioner in one or more technology domains, may be a cross-domain expert, able to solve complex and mission critical problems within a business or across the firm

  • Experience working in cloud (AWS)

  • Excellent debugging and trouble shooting skills

Required Experience:

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in Production Support.

  • 3+ years experience managing UNIX/Linux environment.

  • 3+ years experience with distributed applications (Oracle, SQL, SQL Server, UNIX, Linux, Java, Java servlets and JSP, Spring, Cassandra, Hibernate, etc.)

  • 1-3 years of hands-on experience in data analysis/ SQL

  • 1-3 years experience in UNIX shell, Perl, Python, or similar scripting languages.

  • 1-3 years of experience in ETL tools Actuate , Informatica & Abinito.

  • 1-3 years experience utilizing scheduler software such Control-M or Autosys

  • One (1) to five (5) years' experience with file transfer software such as SNDM & SFTP

  • Knowledge of Dynatarce, Splunk and Genious is a plus.

  • Experience supporting mission-critical in financial services industry, particularly in a merchant servicing environment, is a big plus.

  • Understanding & Exposure to Network/Data Center architecture


BA/BS required in Computer Science or equivalent.

You will work closely with other Product Owners, Area Product Owners, architects, developers, and designers to develop and drive the direction for many capabilities across the Chase Auto landscape. Your ability to collaborate and reach consensus will be a significant and required asset. The position also requires you to identify issues in a collaborative environment and drive those issues to closure. You will develop, maintain and improve the technical strategy and reference architectures for assigned products. Partnering with product owners, you will create solutions that solve business problems in a modern, secure, and resilient way. You will help develop and drive the technical direction for Chase Auto. To accomplish this, you should be expert in, and leverage, one or more of the following: * Cloud computing (AWS, Azure, internal / external, hybrid, etc.) * Distributed, fault-tolerant, highly-scalable databases and related concepts (e.g. eventual consistency) * Event driven architecture and common events * Rules Engines and Decision systems * Service definition and consumption including API, brokers, REST APIs * Solution Availability, Extensibility, and Resiliency * Web responsive design applications (JavaScript, CSS) You will prepare technical architecture deliverables in accordance with architecture standards and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical individuals at all levels. Examples of such deliverables include: * Domain Driven Design artifacts such as context maps and domain models * Technology strategy * Evaluation of new initiatives * Conceptual designs * Epic and Story elaboration * Reference Architectures This role requires a wide variety of experience, strengths and capabilities, including: * BS/BA degree or equivalent experience * 5 - 10 years in Information Technology Software Development and Delivery * 3 - 5 years as Senior/Lead Application Developer or Application Architect with proven record of driving adoption of solutions and platforms into production * Expertise in application, data and infrastructure architecture disciplines * Advanced knowledge of architecture, design and business processes * Proficiency in modern programming languages * Keen understanding of financial control and budget management * Ability to work collaboratively in teams and develop meaningful relationships to achieve common goals * Strong written and verbal communication skill * Minimum 5 years using architecture methodologies, standards and tools (TOGAF, domain driven design, UML, etc.) * Ability to work independently across multiple initiatives simultaneously * Strong understanding of project management methodologies and tools including experience with agile delivery * Knowledge and experience defining and working with microservices and service oriented architectures * Experience with PaaS platforms like Pivotal Cloud Foundry, Docker, AWS EC2, ECS, RDS, ELB, Control Plane * Experience in Cloud orchestration/Configuration services such as Kubernetes or Docker Swarm. * Experience with API Management platforms like IBM API Connect, APIGEE Jpmorgan Chase & Co.
