Dow AgroSciences is focused on providing "Solutions for the Growing World", utilizing innovative science and technology to address challenging problems in agriculture. Dow AgroSciences is committed to building toward our future, and we have an opportunity for an experienced, dynamic and results-oriented person to join our team as Formulation Application R&D Engineer located in Indianapolis, IN. The role will specifically focus on ensuring our products excel at meeting the unique needs of customers and growers through rigorous testing under field-relevant conditions.

The position will primarily focus on:

  • Partnering with formulation, analytical and field R&D in developing new formulated products to ensure the product meets or exceeds the customer's storage, handling and application needs.

  • Design and validate equipment and test methods to support development of world-class application-based customer and regulatory product advantages, including spray drift control, "on-target" application, application efficiency and uptake, ease of handling, tank mix compatibility, etc.

  • Partnering with marketing/commercial, field biology, equipment manufacturers, and industry/academic consultants to understand current and developing regional agricultural practices and incorporate into product and technology developments and future application development technology strategy.

  • Leading the development of technical communication materials, partnerships and strategies for effective transfer of product technology across the organization and successful product introductions into the market.

  • Participation in key technical & professional organizations and symposia targeted at creating leadership positions and driving strategy

Required Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Agriculture Engineering or related field and 2 years related industrial or academic experience. Alternatively, a Ph.D. in a relevant field will be considered.

  • A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A strong applications and entrepreneurial mindset is critical.

  • Knowledge of agricultural application practices is highly desirable.

  • Proven leadership in the commercial introduction of new technologies into the marketplace, including ability to build strong relationships with customers and commercial teams.

  • Demonstrated ability and passion in working collaboratively with global and cross-functional teams, including commercial, technical, operations, marketing and regulatory components.

  • Track record of new product/technology development and using a multi-disciplinary approach to problem solving and opportunity development.

  • Strong stakeholder management skills, responsiveness and ability to prioritize

  • Strong business acumen

  • Excellent communication skills

  • A proven track record of original research contributions, including development of intellectual property and experience in publishing and presenting technical papers in scientific journals and at professional symposia is important.

  • Experience in regulated markets is a plus


The position is located in Indianapolis, Indiana. The position will require project related travel of up to 15% of the time.
