Dow AgroSciences is committed to building toward our future, and we have an opportunity for an experienced, dynamic and results-oriented person to join our team as Formulation Application R&D Engineer located in Indianapolis, IN. The role will specifically focus on ensuring our products excel at meeting the unique needs of customers and growers through rigorous testing under field-relevant conditions.

The position will primarily focus on:

  • Partnering with formulation, analytical and field R&D in developing new formulated products to ensure the product meets or exceeds the customer's storage, handling and application needs.

  • Design and validate equipment and test methods to support development of world-class application-based customer and regulatory product advantages, including spray drift control, "on-target" application, application efficiency and uptake, ease of handling, tank mix compatibility, etc.

  • Partnering with marketing/commercial, field biology, equipment manufacturers, and industry/academic consultants to understand current and developing regional agricultural practices and incorporate into product and technology developments and future application development technology strategy.

  • Leading the development of technical communication materials, partnerships and strategies for effective transfer of product technology across the organization and successful product introductions into the market.

  • Participation in key technical & professional organizations and symposia targeted at creating leadership positions and driving strategy

Required Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Agriculture Engineering or related field and 2 years related industrial or academic experience. Alternatively, a Ph.D. in a relevant field will be considered.

  • A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A strong applications and entrepreneurial mindset is critical.

  • Knowledge of agricultural application practices is highly desirable.

  • Proven leadership in the commercial introduction of new technologies into the marketplace, including ability to build strong relationships with customers and commercial teams.

  • Demonstrated ability and passion in working collaboratively with global and cross-functional teams, including commercial, technical, operations, marketing and regulatory components.

  • Track record of new product/technology development and using a multi-disciplinary approach to problem solving and opportunity development.

  • Strong stakeholder management skills, responsiveness and ability to prioritize

  • Strong business acumen

  • Excellent communication skills

  • A proven track record of original research contributions, including development of intellectual property and experience in publishing and presenting technical papers in scientific journals and at professional symposia is important.

  • Experience in regulated markets is a plus

The position is located in Indianapolis, Indiana. The position will require project related travel of up to 15% of the time.

Description The Senior Applications Development Scientist will be responsible for the development of automated applications in a team environment. They will use scientific and programming expertise to design and develop automated applications in one or more key strategic life science market segments. Essential Duties and Responsibilities * Has a good understanding of the scientific methods with a concentration in either molecular or cell biology. Is able to follow established research procedures without direct supervision. * Interacts with project team members and peers to establish application development priorities to support strategic plan. * Develops applications with a customer's view/ experience in mind and provides support for positioning the applications to specific market segments. * Develops research plan, designing work flows and procedures. Writes automation programs by interpreting internal and external protocols and performs internal verification of product performance. * Identifies and establishes collaborative relationships with customers to demonstrate the applications developed. * Makes detailed observations, analyzes data and interprets results. * Contributes to application reports and scientific publications. Job Requirements Qualifications * MS or BS with 2+ years of recent laboratory experience or PhD in Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Computer Science, Chemical Engineering, or related fields. * Hands on experience in genomic automated applications including techniques and applications such as nucleic acid extractions, qPCR, PCR, Next Generation Sequencing and it's sample prep.
