The Applications Programmer II programs, tests, debugs, designs and maintains new applications or enhancements to existing applications across Hackensack Meridian Health (HMH). Designs and develops software applications that support internal or external business functions. Handles moderately complex issues and problems, and refers more complex issues to higher level Applications Programmers. Assists Applications Programmer I as needed.

Candidates should have 2 years of Kaba experience with Time Clocks, monitoring Time Clocks.


A day in the life of a Applications Programmer II at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:

  • Uses established coding methods to create applications that efficiently and effectively perform specific functions.

  • Codes features or functionality based on detailed specifications or an understanding of business requirements.

  • Tests component functionality, monitors production application performance and troubleshoots issues.

  • Develops and maintains internal and end-user documentation.

  • May provide technical assistance during application implementation or maintenance.

  • Recommends areas for process improvements.

  • Perform other related duties and/or projects as assigned.

  • Adheres to the Medical Center's Organizational Competencies and Standards of Behavior.


Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Bachelor's level degree or equivalent years of experience in a related Information Technology (IT) or other computer field.

  • Two or more years of relevant experience in an IT/other computer field.

  • Demonstrated experience with one or more programming languages or frameworks.

  • Works independently and effectively manages time with some supervision.

  • Strong desktop skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio and Outlook.

  • Effective oral and written communication.

  • Creates and maintains clear, concise documentation.

  • Collaborates with other team members across the department.

  • Demonstrates self-direction.

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:

  • Healthcare experience or related field.

  • Information systems application programming, build and/or support.

Licenses and Certifications Required:

  • Epic and/or other relevant certification(s) or where applicable, equivalent applications programming experience (i.e. PeopleSoft tools).

VIEW JOBS 9/30/2022 12:00:00 AM 2022-12-29T00:00 <p>A key member of the Albireo Energy SERVICE team, the BMS/BAS Programmer will be responsible for developing, creating, supporting, maintaining, and servicing Graphics, User Interfaces, Databases and Programs for building automation systems / building management systems in commercial and institution facilities</p><ul><li>Create, write, revise and troubleshoot where applicable, Software databases, programs, coding, graphics, etc. utilizing industry and company standards. Test and validate existing and new programs and graphics.</li><li>Supports the installation, configuration, maintenance and service of workstations, servers, and networks working with client’s IT organization.</li><li>Includes the integration of various HVAC and Electrical systems including BACnet, MODBUS and IP networking</li><li>Provides preventive maintenance services, emergency service support and repairs as necessary on above and related systems.</li><li>Assist in startup and commissioning of large HVAC systems, such as AHUs, chiller plants, or other utilities systems. </li><li>Ability to troubleshoot mechanical, HVAC and electrical issues as related to the BMS Control system operation.</li><li>Experience with various BMS / BAS Systems including writing programs, creating databases and graphics required. Experience with Niagara Tridium preferred.</li></ul><p><strong>Requirements</strong></p><ul><li>Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Computer Science is preferred.</li><li>Degree may be offset by 5-7 years of experience with the programming of ATC/BAS systems.</li><li>Understanding of mechanical HVAC equipment and sequence of operations.</li><li>Experience with building automation programming (Function Block, Ladder, or Text-based preferred) or other programming languages (e.g. C, C++, Java, VBA).</li><li>Thorough understanding of electrical and network wiring and the programming of BAS components.</li><li>Excellent computer skills and strong understanding of MS Office products (Word, Excel, Access); Visual Basic, Visio.</li><li>Effective interpersonal skills to represent the company to customers and other outside contacts in an ethical and professional manner.</li></ul><ul><li>Ability to travel to and work on construction sites for commissioning/startup. </li><li>Conducts extensive self-study (reading, research and practice) to improve and maintain technical proficiency in company's product lines.
