About the job

This position provides a unique opportunity as one of our hardware application team members whose charter is to support a variety of SimpleLink products from a hardware and driver-level software perspective. Applications teams at Texas Instruments SimpleLink consist of teams of technical experts who are focused on leading-edge Wi-Fi and low power RF products. In this position, you will be part of a team working both directly with TI customers and mass market customers to determine and solve their major design challenges and partner with them on creating solutions that focus on ease-of-use and add value to their product. In addition, you'll be a very important link between our customers and various R&D teams.

This role is responsible for application support for the SimpleLink product line. Key responsibilities include:

  • Provide technical applications support to the company's sales staff, Field Applications Engineers as well as direct support to customers with a focus on RF and hardware issues, but also including driver-level software issues.

  • Answer customer questions and supporting design-in activities for release products including form and e-mail questions from customers and debug of customer problems by re-crating issues in our evaluation boards and/or customer boards.

  • Develop technical documentation including application notes, data sheets, user guides, design notes and white papers.

  • Assist in implementing fully functional demonstration systems in the form of C/C code for customers, in order to solve their technical issues.

  • Conduct internal as well as customer training, through training events like FAE summits, TI Tech Days or written materials.

  • Create reference designs, requiring system design expertise, hardware and software integration and verification knowledge.

  • Develop hardware reference designs and RF development kits.

Minimum requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, ECE, or related field

  • 5 years of relevant experience

  • Experience in applications support of MCU products

  • Solid Software debugging skills (Hardware debugging skills a plus)

  • Strong technical background, with the ability to produce high quality technical documentation

Preferred qualifications

  • Meet challenging, customer driven deadlines.

  • Ability to work in teams and collaborate effectively with people in different functions

  • Strong sense of ownership and personal accountability, while working in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment.

  • Good knowledge of RF lab environment, including instruments used for RF hardware development and verification.

  • Creativity and drive to solve problems; desire and ability to drive change and beat expectations.

  • Good understanding of Microcontrollers (ARM-CMx, MSP430 etc) and RF components.

  • Proven knowledge in schematics, layout and digital components is needed, along with a good understanding of analog circuitry.

  • Excellent writing and communication skills in English.

He/she is responsible for providing technical guidance, answers and advice to customers, and other DRS personnel. Candidates will be intimately involved in both DRS and customer hardware/software; everything from the definition, development, production, and debug of the infrared camera hardware and software. Basic Qualifications and Required Skills * Entry level - looking for recent graduates * 4 year engineering degree, BSEE or BSCS * BSEE candidates: Semiconductor and PCB design/debug desired * BSCS candidates: Windows User Interface developer/programmer desired * Candidate must possess strong communication and problem solving skills * Organized, strong attention to detail, excellent follow-through. * Demonstrated strong customer relations skills. * Warm, friendly and service-oriented philosophy. * Excellent oral and written communications skills. * Ability to multitask.
