Applications Engineer Lead

Location: Denver CO

Contract to perm

Applications Engineer Lead - under minimal direction, is responsible for leading the daily operations of the team, instructs, directs and validates the work of the team's application engineers, administrators and analysts as applicable.

  • This is a highly technical role with IT networking knowledge and applications

  • Competent to work across multiple applications and apply the highest level of technical experience to all phases of software support and maintenance.

  • Devises or modifies procedures to help improve team workflows and customer service.

  • Prepares Ad hoc and scheduled reports as requested.

  • Responsible for quality assurance review, collaborating with vendors on application troubleshooting and system implementation and or upgrades.

  • Possesses the ability to evaluate the business implications of technology and how it supports the organizations strategic imperatives.

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively across the department and organization.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1.Evaluates feasibility, cost and required time to complete customer requests.

2.Formulates documents and communicates plan outlining steps required.

3.Implements application changes and performs system maintenance.

4.Communicates and/or educates users in affected user departments.

5.Monitors daily maintenance and/or error reports for data accuracy and maintains records of quality control.

6.Identifies and resolves system and procedural problem quickly and communicates to management and/or affected customers.

7.Communicates and intervenes appropriately with vendor or departmental personnel when required to help resolve issues.

8.Ensures updated documentation for all systems, processes or procedures exists.

9.Generates and disseminates team productivity and capacity reports.

  1. Develops and maintains working relationship with vendors.

  2. Works with vendors to augment staff for large projects.

  3. Negotiates with clients and vendors to deliver projects and tasks within mutually agreed upon deadlines.

  4. Instructs, assigns and evaluates work performed by team.

  5. Mentors teammates, role modeling the expected behaviors of trust, respect and excellence.

  6. Provides constructive advice and feedback to team members to help them develop their skills.

  7. Is responsible for on-call schedule and will perform a 7/24 rotation once per 8-week schedule or as required due to staffing.

  8. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications Education

1.Associates Degree required. Concentration in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business or Healthcare Related field preferred. Gender/Minority/Veterans/Disabled Job Description Experience 1. Five years' experience in Healthcare Information Systems or a related field required.

2.Applicable programming or application support experience preferred.

3.Demonstrated experience in leading teams formally or informally.

4.Evidence of continuing education and/or certification in Information Technology based specialty preferred.

5.In lieu of an Associate's Degree, must have eight years' experience in Healthcare Information Systems. Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities

1.Full knowledge of software and hardware requirements of varied departmental systems.

2.Demonstrated ability to be the subject matter expert in workflow and process requirements for complex application systems.

3.Demonstrated ability to understand the needs and challenges faced by clinical staff.

4.Excellent verbal and written communication/presentation skills.

5.Exceptional organizational skills with ability to handle multiple projects, multiple (and sometimes conflicting) priorities and adapt to change.

6.Ability to adapt and analyze changing situations with the willingness to independently learn new systems and technology.

7.Project management experience.

8.Mentors less-experienced analysts and teams on application systems to help build knowledge, skill and ability

9.Demonstrated ability to communicate and intervene across the organization with both technical and non-technical customers including vendors to resolve issues.

Computers and Technology

1.Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office suite

2.Knowledge of network security practices and anti-virus programs.

3.Basic knowledge of network configurations and protocols.

4.Hands-on experience with Windows/Linux, including working knowledge of peripherals, like printers and scanners.

5.In depth support of healthcare applications preferably in a hospital environment, including ability to troubleshoot and diagnose system problems.

6.Experience writing reports using tools such as Crystal Reports, Microsoft Access, and SQL.

7.Experience supporting and configuring interfaces such as HL7.

8.Cherwell Software highly preferred

9.Citrix Endpoint - highly preferred
