Eaton's Hydraulics division is currently seeking an Applications Engineer to join our team. This position is based at our Jackson, MI facility.

The Applications Engineer is responsible for supporting our customer base and identifying appropriate products and price levels for customer quotes. In this role you will be responsible for balancing sales growth and product fit with company profit margin targets to produce quotes that win the organization business.

  • You will provide local application support to key customers

  • You will be recognized as a technical resource on the cylinder product line and translate the customer's needs into a new cylinder configuration

  • You will identify and calculate cylinder cost while also assisting the Cylinders Pricing Analyst with setting of the selling price within established guidelines

  • You will complete complex quotations within customer expectations

  • You will coordinate communication between sales, manufacturing and customer service

  • You will support design/process reviews when required to communicate special customer requirements

  • You will participate in and support continuous improvement project/ideas - including quoting process and tools

  • You will serve as the Project Manager for complex designs, managing overall project from initial conception to shipment of final product.

Qualifications

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution required.

  • Minimum 1-year experience in a manufacturing environment.

  • No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates that currently reside within 50 miles of Jackson, MI will be considered.

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship

  • This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).   • Strong mathematical aptitude and the ability to apply concepts of algebra and geometry

Consumers Energy, the principal subsidiary of CMS Energy and headquartered in Jackson, Michigan, provides natural gas and electricity to nearly 6.8 million of Michigan's 10 million residents in all 68 Lower Peninsula counties. Department Summary The Gas Storage Integrity - Well Engineering department is responsible for asset management of the natural gas underground storage fields, wellheads, pipelines, separation equipment and associated processing systems within the Gas Asset Management Department. This department is responsible for the development, engineering, and implementation of projects to increase safety, improve system performance, deliverability and equipment reliability in order to meet statewide customer demands. Consumers Energy has 15 underground gas storage fields with approximately 969 wells statewide. These fields are located near Marion, Overisel, Northville and St Clair, Michigan. Job Description/Responsibilities The Gas Storage Integrity - Well Engineer duties will include acting with personal integrity/honesty; setting and upholding both company and regulatory standards; providing effective and timely communication between gas storage engineering, field operations and project management; being a team player; having a positive, winning attitude; being accountable; managing performance; and maintaining industry best practices within the field and associated facilities. The Well Engineer must continually strive for operating excellence and model human performance improvement techniques in order to achieve safe, reliable and predictable storage field operations. Existing Wellbore Evaluation Design – The Gas Storage Well Engineer will review existing well configurations for inconsistencies and nonconformance with API 1171, 6A and 6D. Existing issues will identified and corrective actions will be proposed and selected with input and alignment from other gas storage engineering team members. Well engineers will provide technical expertise and support to the EPM – Gas Betterment Project group along with the Well Services Gas Field Leader. New Wellbore Design – The GSI Well Engineer will be involved in design, configuration, procurement and installation of new wellheads along with providing recommendations for casing, tubular materials, associated lateral lines, cementing hardware, etc. and ensure compliance with API 1171, 6A and 6D. The Well Engineer will be involved with all aspects of the overall drilling/completion project and will align with both the Reservoir and Storage Integrity Engineering Teams to ensure optimal deliverability and regulatory compliance Deliverability Assurance – The GSI Well Engineer will work to develop and implement testing methods to identify subsurface and surface gas flow parameters to justify both rehabilitation and drilling related work. Working with the Reservoir Integrity Engineers data results will be reviewed for performance and evaluation of corrective measures that may be implemented to improve deliverability and or eliminate wells that do not add value to the overall system. The GSI Well Engineer will provide technical expertise and support to the EPM – Gas Betterment Project group along with the Well Services Gas Field Leader. Integrity Assurance – The GSI Well Engineer will support integrity well logging related work to identify subsurface mechanical and conditional integrity issues. Data results will be reviewed in conjunction with the Reservoir Integrity Engineers to review, align and make recommendations if necessary for corrective measures to be implemented within selected wells. The GSI Well Engineer will provide engineering and technical support to rehabilitation well contractors, well consultants, field leaders, well services group and the Gas Betterment Project Management group to ensure safe, consistent and reliable results. Historical Well and Data Acquisition Assurance – The GSI Well Engineer will lead and collaborate with both Reservoir and Storage Integrity Engineers to ensure historical well records, Wellview database, project related documents, construction related drawings, close-out documents, etc. are completed and updated in a timely manner upon completion of the work to maintain accuracy. Storage Risk Assessment – The GSI Well Engineer will collaborate with the storage integrity/assessment engineering team to ensure overall storage asset integrity from both a sub-surface and surface perspective. The primary focus will be related to well rehabilitation planning and execution of associated work, new gas storage well design and optimization, overall risk and threat identification, adherence to API Recommended Practices (specifically API RP 1171, 6A and 6D) along with compliance with MDEQ 615 Supervisor of Well regulations. The specific office location may be negotiable, but the selected candidate must be willing to work at the Parnall Office selected days per week as determined by the Senior Engineering - Lead. This posting requires 30% field / 70% office work and will require travel to the other all storage fields statewide as required. Use computer assisted engineering, design, and drafting software and equipment to prepare engineering and design documents. Understand and follow company established standard procedures for file structure and standard drawing procedures for projects Become familiar with plans and specifications, maps, and related material for each project and be able to utilize the information appropriately. Assists in client contact and communication. Utilize effective oral and written communication skills to provide technical expertise to coworkers, clients, customers, government entities and the public. Public involvement may include producing reports, graphics, presentations, and other visual material as well as occasional speaking or meeting with stakeholders. Attend internal and external meetings. Provide all engineering services in a legal and ethical manner. Resolve all customer complaints in a timely manner. Serve as onsite project representative. Reviews operating and construction sites to monitor progress and other duties per the design documents. Regular attendance is expected. Hours and Travel This position requires the individual work a minimum of 40 hours per week (45-50 typical) with 85% of time spent in the office or specific field locations. Travel is required to job sites and project meetings and could be significant dependent upon location. Individuals need to be willing to work additional hours as necessary to meet deadlines or assist with storm restoration activities. Individual should be willing to participate in the on call rotation in case of potential storms. Individual may have to work outside of assigned headquarters to help with storm restoration which may require overnight stays Individuals must have a valid driver's license.
